I missed Battle Royal II at the London Film Festival but i REALLY wanted to see it. I was aware of quite a few posts from people saying that they had tickets.

I was just wondering if anyone who has seen it can give some comments as i am really curious about this film.

Sorry to disappoint you Dan but this has to be one of the worst films I've ever seen on the big screen.

They threw out all the fun stuff from the first film and turned it into some sort of sentimental, post-9/11, Saving Private Ryan type war movie.

I'm a big fan of the first one but Battle Royale 2: Requiem is funny for all the wrong reasons and, worst of all, boring.

:( :( :(

a War Movie?

I have read a bit about this....but would someone who has seen it mind giving a breif description of the plot or something?

I really wanted this to be good!

The director did happen to die partway into production which goes someway towards explaining the drop in quality. His son took over but apparently the father’s considerable talent wasn’t hereditary.

Three years after the events in "Battle Royale," Shuya Nanahara (Tatsuya Fujiwara)is a well-known terrorist bent on bringing down the government. In response, they order the creation of the "Battle Royale 2" program, and send a class of junior-high students to catch and kill him.

And then it becomes Saving Private Ryan + a skipload of cliched sentimental bulledit.

There is a very slight chance that this is some sort of satire on right-wing US war-movies. But, when I say slight....

Avoid.

I was at the LFF Sunday screening and have to agree with the previous posts - BR2 is disappointing and not a patch on the original. One reaction as the credits rolled summed it up for the majority of the audience IMO:

Haven't seen it yet - hoping against hope the HK VCD released in next couple of weeks has Eng subs :) ) but the original director's death midway through production shouldn't have made that much of a difference as his son, who took control of the helm, also wrote both films...
