Depends on your Oliver Stone quotient.
If you like him - you'll love this.
If you can't stand him - avoid.
A bit of an obvious statement really, but this is one of the most "Stone" films out there. An excellent drama in my opinion with an amazing disc to boot - but others will argue that the leading character is so dislikeable that it negates the whole of the film.
Personally - I love it, excellent performance by James Woods.

Good film, great disc. The document on the making of the film is fantastic. It sheds light on the real life events portrayed in the film and has some excellent ancedotes on the behind the scenes antics. Including James Woods turning a gun on Oliver Stone and Oliver Stone in turn admitting that he "honestly wanted to kill, Jimmy Woods"
