which is the definitive version, how does the new r1 s.e. compare to the current r2?

The new R1 is the same as the previous R1 release (only the cover art is different).

The R2 SE from Universal is the best version as it includes the excellent docu "The Shocking Truth". It may be non-anamorphic but the pic is better than the R4 anamorphic transfer.
(I have this release and the previous Blue Dolphin UK release - the Universal version is by far the best).
