if you're thinking about this johnr or anyone else then dont. just do it. you are most unlikely to regret it. if you dont like it they come and pick it up FREE and you can keep the free gifts. viking are a good customer service based company - they are the anti-dixons of this world.

WEll i spoke to somone this evening as i was a little worried, glad i did as well as my order said Processed, but they had no record of it there end, so the bloke reordered it for me with delivery tommoro and a free box of chocolates!

Johnr
25-03-2004, 22:48
Oh well...Won't get anywhere without trying so will give them a ring tomorrow...Especially now I have heard the words 'free' and 'chocolate' :norty:

One more question, Is this free delivery or will I have to order something cheap as well like a fax roll? In the Viking catalogue it states delivery is only free on orders £30 or over (EXCLUDING VAT).

No, the chair comes in @ 29.99 + VAT yet appears to qualify for free shipping

I got mine yesterday. I rang to check if it wuld be here (it was a day after i ordered), and they apologised and said it wont. BUT at around 2pm it came.

It took ages to set up. Getting the back part on is a pain in the butt!

I guess its comfortable, but the back bit could be slanted back a bit more in my opinion. I'm not used to sitting this upright..:(

Totally agree, it almost feels as if you're sitting slightly forward to start with, as I'm used to sitting back. I guess its better for you though.

Has anyone mentioned the special offer Managers chair on the opening page? Bargain @ £49.99 and it has extra lumbar support.
Was £179.99 now £49.99

Only available until Sunday however.

A small cushion is what Sir needs.

Or use the tilt back feature - which works well.

I managed to get sent the AMBA instead of the MATRIX yet still for £29.99 (I think - not checked the credit card yet). Like someone said - good customer service - though I missed out on the free gifts by a day...

Mine has a 'tilt' function on it where you pull the level under the chair outwards to disengage the tilt-lock and hence I can sit at whatever angle I wish at my desk.

anyone care to summarise the last 14 pages for me..?

BY the looks of things, at it stands, the deal simply is on the QY2-MATRIX chair for £29,99 right? Or am i missing something important in the last 500 posts??

Ive noticed people talking about assembly? just how flat-packed are these? I'm at uni and would like one for dissertation writing, but it will have to be transported back home and the end of the year, so need to know how much space it will take when dissassembled.

ah well, i'll think i'll go for it anyway! :D

Y29-MATRIX or QY2-MATRIX Budget High Back Leather Chair £100.00 £29.99
Y21-PRSANDWICH toaster free
Y29-PRDESIGNTV Portable Black & White TV & Radio free
Q24-PREPACK easter hamper
Q2N-PRBULB Bulb Box free
Y29-PR11477 Deluxe Document Bag free

are there any freebie codes still working, cos these all give 0 search results, but then i can still get the easter hamper via the link on the main page, so is there a way of getting the others..?

As far as I can tell the only codes currently working are the sandwich toaster and the mini easter hamper, rest come up with invalid codes now... :)

Please feel free to correct me though we like freebies here ;)

Incidently, the 3 piece luggage set is still available for £19.99 using the code Q51-9726. Whilst it is not the most amazing luggage set I have ever seen it is pretty stunning quality for that price and imo is a cracking bargain :D

28-03-2004, 23:41
OK, i've managed to get the following freebies:

Q24-PREPACK Free Mini Easter Hamper £0.00 £0.00
Y21-PRSANDWICH Stylish Sandwich Toaster £0.00 £0.00
QY2-PR728 Collapsible Roller Case £0.00 £0.00

can i have all of these or is it one freebie per order?

Johnr
28-03-2004, 23:52
It wouldn't let me have a free sandwich toaster when I placed my order

BTW Nettos have a £49.99 Executive Leather chair on offer tomorrow, they have made the features list so small it is impossible to read yet though!

Although it has castors that only move when you're sat on the chair' :suspect:

i got the easter hamper and sandwich toaster - shown as shipped.

I have 2 x Marino chairs here, from when they were £35 a piece a while back - Y29-Marino was the code, absolute bargain - very very very comfy.

Mines taken at least a year of hardcore backside-sitting, and is still in great nick.

Refunds wont show up immediately on your credit card. It can take upto 7 working days on some occasions to appear on your statement as a credit. My refund doesn't show up yet but I wont start yelling until this time next week. :)

Although this bargain seems to have been going a long time now ;).

A hidden bargain at that. Considering the QY2-Matrix isn't actually advertised on the site, they must be scratching their heads wondering where all the orders came from.

Considering this company has been selling these bargains for a while, I don't suppose they're in any trouble.

My missus used to do the stationery orders for a company and she always used to use these lot because of all the free offers. Once she ended up ordering 10 rolls of masking tape (for an office?) so she could get a free teddy!

jchallis
30-03-2004, 07:19
they make most of their money from B2B sales, as some of their stuff is astronomically expensive - but if you are responsible for office supplies and your company say 'we've got an account with viking direct' and thats is, then its their tough **** if they end up paying 2 or 3 times the odds on computer peripherals and the like.

selling half a dozen mice at £10 a mouse is going to easily make up for not making massive amounts on these chairs. And I doubt they pay more than £10-£15 per chair anyway.

Viking Direct are an excellent place to just buy the bargain bits, as you dont get any degredation in customer service no matter what you buy

:D

Big thumbs up from me.

I placed an order last night for a chair and the luggae set for my in-laws. I ordered the toaster with it and it went through ok, but didnt try the hamper as you are only allowed two gifts per order and I chose the folding case instead ;) The toaster and the luggae set did say they were discontinued after I placed the order, but I phoned up to question this as was told there were some of both in stock still...

Had a squint at the website. Matrix is listed at 89.99 and Amba 99.99. (not following the link from this thread).

They hold the bottom of the back of the chair to the seat. It will be impossible to do these up if you have tightened up all the other screws first.

I tried both the AMBA and Matrix and although the AMBA has full leather and slightly better back support, it's not nearly as comfy as the Matrix.

i had to order it twice cuz the first time, the order didnt show up in my order history. however, the second time it all worked and now shows up in the order history.

im a bit dubious about the quality of the chair. for £35, i honestly cant believe that the chair is as good as many have made out on this forum, so i will report back tomorrow to let you know just how the chair feels/performs.

i recd the matrix chair (£35inc vat) today at 1600hrs. i waited the whole day to receive it.

anyway, it does indeed feel like a cheap chair. i think a lot of people on this forum are getting a bit carried away with the quality of this chair. its definetly worth more than £35, probably around the £60 mark, but no way would i pay a penny more than that.

it feels cheap and lightweight.
its quite comfortable, though not nearly as comfy as the chairs we have in our office where i work. it needs more padding.

definitely worth buying for £35 if u r in need of a chair for your computer. However, if u want a real quality/comfortable chair, u should look elsewhere.

for £35 u cant really complain...
