I didn't think i could be blown away by a middle aged guy with an acoustic gutar, but last night Alan Sparhawk from Low played probably the best gig i have ever been to. It was at the Arts Cafe in Aldgate.
I'd forgotten what an amazing band low are and it's good to hear all the old classics. He took requests and I shouted for dinosaur act and he played it, and that was just the icing on the cake. :)
Incidentally, the support band 'her space holiday' were rubbish but i don't care.
OOh you bugger I don't think I can get down to the Sheffield gig tonight so I was hoping someone would say he was rubbish

As snow patrol has said, it was a wonderful performance. Very moving and intense. Low are SO underappreciated it drives me mad that people miss out on stuff like this! The venue last night was about 20% full - ridiculous.
Anyway, Alan was superb. I was concerned that without Mimi and Zak the songs would be lacking. When Alan and Mimi sing together it sounds amazing. But my concerns were unfounded as Alan singing alone just made me realize what a great voice he has!
Great night.

Ooh god, quite a bit. Off the top of my head and if i remember correctly: Canada, Amazing Grace, Shame, Over the Ocean, Soon, Lordy, Words, The Plan amongst others.
No Two-Step though so you can take that as consolation. It was shouted out but got lost amongst the requests.

It is very small consolation I'm afradi.
My attendance at Janes Addiction on Sunday is now in jeopardy so it could turn out to be a bad week :(

Bad news mate.
I'm off to Janes Addiction at Rock City next Friday. Was hoping you could give me a pre-gig review before then!

If I do make it I'll certainly report back.

Strange, the London show was sold out (albeit at only a 200ish capacity venue). He had some guy doing drums too.

Yeah, he said he had someone else with him the night before. Apparantly when i saw him it was the first time he'd ever played completely solo!
The attendance is purely a Sheffield thing i'm sure. Happens all the time here.
