I watched Hannibal for the first time last night after my dvd arrived from Brittania and thought it was brilliant!

Was anyone freaked out by the brain eating scene towards the end though? Urgghh! It was bloody horrible hehe, especially where he pulls off that sort of film covering the brain!

Anyone else freaked out by this or am I being a wimp? :)

actually my initial responce was thinking about the fact it was released on Valantines day......

I dont wish to spark up the "is it cut?" argument but imo it DEFINATELY is :)

Yeah, I thought it was disgusting!. Some great humour in that scene too though, with Hannibal getting irritated by Pauls inability to keep up with the conversation. :D

Pretty clever combination of cgi/ray liotta/animatronics, check out the featurette on the 2nd dvd.

Never used the spoiler tag and don't know how to. I thought I compensated for this by typing "**Possible Spoiler** in the heading though?

Get rid of the 'possible' bit, otherwise you'll get people moaning lol.

Here's an example of how to use the spoiler tags:

(SPOILER)I watched Hannibal for the first time last night after my dvd arrived from Brittania and thought it was brilliant!
(/SPOILER)

You type it just like above, only with square,[] brackets instead of the curved ones, (). Hey presto, you'll see this:

I watched Hannibal for the first time last night after my dvd arrived from Brittania and thought it was brilliant!

i didnt think it was as good as the first one.

OK so why didnt the pigs eat him, how could he just walk past them all like that and secondly why did he chop his hand off, he proved int he first film he can pick some cuffs with his hands behind hiw back with a pin, surely he could have unlocked the cuffs with something from the kitchen

apparently, the boars attack when they 'smell fear' and as he had no fear of them, they weren't interested

Firstly, he doesn't walk past them. He stands still as they walk past him. And, according to Ridley Scott on the commentary the boars leave him alone because of his sheer presence. In much the same way as the dog earlier on.

As for the handcuffs, he was in a hurry so cutting off his hand ensures he can escape quickly. Picking a lock could potentially take more time.

Just finished watching it tonite as well. At the cinema is was kinda laughable the final scene but after watching, on my own, I thought it was pretty disgusting. Mr Hopkins certainly does look old now though.

.....but he couldn't have known how much of a hurry he was; after all the police could've turned up when he was "messing about" with Clarice anyway. Besides it only took him a matter of seconds to pick the lock in SOTL.

In the book they condition the pigs to attack the at the sounds of screaming - hence the tape that they put on the beat box in an earlier scene at the farm. Hannibal keeps quiet and doesn't move.

He knows roughly how long he has got because he sees the exact moment Clarice uses the phone via his extension in the dining room. From that moment on, there is a lot of focus on the clock. Seeing as Pauls house is out in the countryside he knows the response time of the police will be about 10mins or so.

He's a perfectionist, he even allows time to do the washing up :D. As for the lock picking thing, well I still stick with my original view, obviously he could pick the handcuffs but something could go wrong, cutting his hand off guarantees he can escape within his time limit.

I couldn't take it seriously because Anthony Hopkins/Hannibal Lecter:-

(a) Looked unnervingly like Geoff Boycott in that Panama hat.
(b) Sounded like Swiss Toni off The Fast Show!

I kept expecting him to say:-

"Clarice, have you ever considered that investigating the mind of a serial killer is like making love to a beautiful woman ........"

Apart from *that* scene and the shootout at the beginning (audio-wise), I thought it was one of the worse films I've seen for years - yes, even worse than Ginger Snaps. :p

The dialogue was almost as risible as Gone In 60 Seconds.

Hang on a minute, Hannibal is the second worst film I've seen in years. :p
