View Full Version : What Warner titles are now available as amarays in the UK?

Seeing as most new titles from Warner are being released in amarays instead of snappers I thought it might be a good to compile a list of titles that are now confirmed to available with an amaray covers. A bit nerdy and anal retentive, I know, :dork: but lets face it, most of us would buy DVDs with amaray covers given the choice.

I have not been able to find any previous posts on this subject so here goes:

[EDITED]:
Warner distributes titles for other companies like Icon and Studio Canal. These are released in those companies' preferred packaging, which is usually an Amaray. I will not list those titles.

This goal of this list it to compile information of “true” Warner releases that are available in Amarays now, most importantly former snappers that are now available in amaray packaging.

Only available with amaray packaging:
Friday the 13th
The Haunting
The Omega Man
Soylent Green
Two Weeks Notice
Blood Work

Formerly snapper, now released with amaray packaging:
The matrix
Training Day
Ocean's 11
Green Mile

Anyone who owns or has spotted Warner DVDs in Amaray covers, please post here. Thanks :)

Training Day & Ocean's 11 can now be found most places in Amarays (I bought the former a few weeks back after holding off all this time for decent packaging). I suppose everything will end in Amarays eventually - thank the maker!

Are Internet retailers selling titles like Oceans 11 in amarays or are they still clearing old stock?

More to the point, are all the remaining snappers available cheap for those of us who are more bothered about the film than the case ?

LA Confidential and a couple of other Warner titles have been going for a fiver down HMV for a while now; I'd keep an eye out there.

Is there anyway I can get just the amaray cases? My snappers are looking a bit bashed rounds the edges now, the discs inside though are fine. If i wrote to warners, do you reckon they sell me just the cases??

you wish. I think they want us to rebuy. They offered in Oz. You can always try. Maybe we should start an online petition...then again I can't be bothered, just imagine all the money you'd spend on new cases. I calculated that If every case would cost only 1quid I could buy like 3new dvds or so.

as for new titles atm it's a bit hit and miss I guess. after all you don't know how mcuh stock some retailers have of the snapper discs.

I received 2001 as a gift in a snapper as one of my first dvds straight away I was disappointed at the cheap look of it compared to the amaray packs
i dont think ive ever bought one since and it definately puts me off buying them.
are snappers getting completely 'done away with' for good?

I saw a few more Clint Eastwood DVDs from Warner in amarays today. This was in a Norwegian store, but I think its safe to assume that the UK R2 releases will be the same, as with few exceptions, all Warner DVDs released since about September have been amarays in most of the R2 territories.

From memory the titles were:
City Heat
Firefox
Honkytonk Man
White hunter, black heart
Pink Cadillac
Heartbreak Ridge
I think there were a few more, I shall check again when I go back tomorrow

Also the following batman releases
Mystery Of The Batwoman
Batman - The animated series

+ the three new Loony Tunes releases are all in amarays:
Looney Tune's First collectors edition (28 toons) (2-discs)
Daffy & Porky Collection (14 toons)
Bugs Bunny golden carrot collection (14 toons)
These three together seem to contain the same as the R1 Gold collection, I shall investigate further once I get my hands on them and do a propper comparison.

Anyone know of any other Warners in amarays? I’d especially like to know of snappers that have been re-released as amarays, primarily UK releases, but any R2 info is appreciated:)

I wish R1 single disc releases were amarays, as I recently bought A Mighty Wind, as the Edinburgh UGC never showed it. I bought R2 Matchstick Men, so I'm glad that at least we get amarays here now.

R1 still snappers, just got 'Blow Up', 'Matchstick Men' & 'Gothica' all in snappers.

Not arsed though, ive got far too many to be concerned with what type of case theyre in, just glad ive none of those French/English sleeves from Canada.

All new Warner titles will be in amaray cases, so there’s no real point in listing them.

Is LW3 the much better Directors Cut or whatever they called it (the one that was in the nice silver coloured snapper) or the theatrical release.

I don't suppose they silvered the artwork for LW4 as well by any chance, it doesn't match the other three!!!

Any sign of any of the Mad Max trilogy getting Amarayed?

Yes, its the Director's Cut for LW 3 that I spotted in amaray Fred, forgot to specify that. The artwork for LW 4 is the same as the original release though.

You can now add all three Mad Max films to the list. Amarray encased examples espied in HMV's (Bond Street London) sale Saturday afternoon cheap if anyone is looking to upgrade.

Slightly disappointed actually, was rather hoping they would let the snappers run out prior to a decent special edition or something but never mind....
