Gorky Park - 3 layer changes ?

Normally on my Pioneer 535 the layer change causes a slight pause and the display shows search as it switches to the next layer.

On Gorky Park (R2) this happened 3 times ! Has anyone had this happen before on any other discs ?

It's not possible for a DVD to have more than two layers. I suppose it is possible, though, if the disc was put together in a really odd way, that the data stream for the movie could start on layer 1, go to layer 2 and then back to layer 1. I don't know. Someone with a better knowledge of the technicalities of DVD mastering should be able to clarify.

I would think it is possible. It would be a poorly done disc though.

My X files DVD's have deleted scenes that can be put back in the episodes. This is not seemless though, as the deleted scenes are at the edge of the disc and the episode was at the centre. I saw the laser (using a fucntion on my DVD player) going up and down the disc.

There was a big pause and the screen went black at these points.
