The film is delayed another year before shooting, but after the WTC attack, they have now scrapped the modern day setting of the remake and are going to be filming a true version based on the novel set in 1898.

Excellent News :)

Lets hope they lift the production design from the inlay of Jeff Wayne's musical.

They're halfway there. All they have to do now is relocate it to Britain!

well check the web site - it states "a dead on accurate adaptation in its original 1898 setting".

That could mean England as the setting...

I doubt it will. Jeff Wayne owns the War of the Worlds rights for Europe and refuses anyone to make a film unless they make a film using his music and designs. ( Design's good, music baaadddd. )

Somehow the U.S. production company ( who make films for Troma! ) have found a loop hole where they can make an American based movie. ( The same loophole which ment they could make the T.V show a few years ago. )

They were planing on making it for a very low budget with the U.S DTV and cable markets as thier main markets.

If it was suppose to start filming last month how come no one had been signed up to star? ( other than the very vauge were talking to Micheal Caine. )

Personally i think the only work being done is by the PR company.

:( :(

I quite like the music, I even bought the Playstation game and the Remixes albums, but talk about being a "dog in a manger".

At least the period will work well. 1953 New Jersey had its charms, but...

ALSO, just looked at the Pendragon Pictures link and the fighting machine design is crap, at least it is if they're trying to tell us that it's much closer to Wells' original description than the 1953 Paramount effort or any number of dodgy paperback reissue cover designs...
