View Full Version : Lamest tagline ever?
just saw a poster for Matrix Revolutions
& the tagline is:
Everything that has a beginning has an end
Bet it took a team of experts to come up wth that one!

I can't remember the film, but the tagline began "From the executive producer of…"
(I thought the Volcano tagline was great, though - and it certainly did the trick, as it trounced Dante's Peak at the box office!)

I thought the tagline for that was "Don't hunt what you can't kill"? (which some wag in Empire modified to "Don't rent what you can't watch" when it was released on video!)

What the hell is that?
It Will Tear Your Soul Apart... Again.
for Hellraiser 2: Hellbound.
Simply taking the tagline from the previous film (which was good) and adding "Again" does not change the fact that the people who wrote this one could not be arsed to spend any time & / or effort on it. Maybe they agonised over the three full stops, I don't know.
:nono:
Peter F. Hamilton's Night's Dawn trilogy are the only books I know with a tagline.
Space is not the only void.
While it's a pretty cool line, it makes the books seem well cheesy. (Which, in all fairness, they are. So I guess it is appropriate. :D )

Still, you have to admit it's a pretty **** tagline!
"Warner Bros. invites you to fall in love with Julia Roberts all over again"
Actually, I very much doubt if this was the actual tagline for Something to Talk About, but I just remember the trailer v/o had this line in it and I don't think I've ever heard worst crap in my life.

I presume they meant it's a rip rollocking rollercoaster of a movie (Copyright Paul Ross), hence you would need seatbelts.

Some good ones there Rubber Duck.
The Running Man and Cobra taglines are pretty good.
Err... the one for 'The Running Man' is awful.
The 'Child's Play 3' one is excellent, though.
Wasn't there a film that simply stole the tagline from 'The Fly' ("Be afraid. Be very afraid.")?

Personally, I think that's just cheesy enough to go perfectly with the film.
In a similar vibe, my personal fave is "Depraved, Demented, DePalma" for Raising Cain.
I suspect it'll remain my fave until Alan Partridge the Movie gets made and is sold with the line "Smell my cheese!"
Oh, and whose idea was it to let Paul Ross write the tagline for Kill Bill 1?
From The Exterminator films:
The Exterminator: "If you're lying, I'll be back..." Yeah great, as if the name of the film wasn't ripped off enough, they then stole Arnie's line aswell
Exterminator 2: "John Eastland is back - He Knew You Were Lying - The Frightmare Continues!" Ummm he knew I was lying about what exactly? :blah:
"TWO FOUR SIX EIGHT, WHO DO WE DECAPITATE?"
Head Cheerleader, Dead Cheerleader.

The VHS used to be advertised like that. Always annoyed me watching people in video shops picking it up and commenting about it being a Tarantino film :oh-hum:. Even today, a quick google brings the film up under Tarantino. Half the comments on IMDB seem to be under the mistaken impression that Tarantino made the film! He didn't even produce it, he's just the "executive" producer (someone who stumps up some cash usually and not much other involvement than that) :brickwall.
Roger Avery must be really fed up that he never gets credit for the film (he wrote and directed it after all!).

 funny, that's exactly the tagline that came to mind when I read the thread title. I think the film stars Luke Perry, to add insult to injury.
By the way, lines such as "'Why Are They Putting Seatbelts In Theatres This Summer?" for Star Trek V aren't taglines, they're part of the promotional/marketing campaign. I think the tagline for Trek 5 was something like "Adventure and excitement will meet at the final frontier" - still pretty lame though :cuckoo:
Saw a corker in the gym this morning - it was a Robert Patrick film, Terminal something or other.
"One man, a thousand bullets....it's going to be a long weekend"
Top notch.

In a similar vein (remembering that the tagline of Lethal Weapon 2 was The magic is back!), the tagline for the third film was The magic is back again!.
According to the IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0122151/taglines) Lethal Weapon 4 had several taglines, among which was this gem: With 4 you get Kung Fu. I don't believe it but I'd like it to be true!

Its the first one. I like that tagline. It is the night HE came home, the implication being that Myers is infamous in Haddonfield and also the fact that there is no name adds to the idea that he is just evil, we're not dealing with an ordinary killer, he is more than that.
Its not really a tagline in the same league as some of the entries listed in this thread.
(I'm off now to the screening of Halloween in birmingham, should be a blast!) :)
