I've just seen something incredibly gooooood. I've hyped myself up so much for Training Day, then it got delayed 'cause the studio couldn't advertise enough for it on TV because of 24/7 news coverage of those terrorist attacks, but now 3 weeks later it is finally in theaters and I've just seen it (I skip Friday/Saturday, too many people = too many assholes = bad moviegoing experience) and it stood up to my expectations and went over them.
Training Day (Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke, Eva Mendes, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg) is even better than, and I'm not directly comparing these but they ARE similar films and on the same wagon so to speak, is even better than
King of New York (Christopher Walken, Laurence Fishburne, David Caruso, Wesley Snipes) and
Colors (Sean Penn, Robert Duvall, Glenn Plummer, Don Cheadle) and it's as good as the excellent and overlooked
Deep Cover (Laurence Fishburne, Jeff Goldblum)
I loved every minute of screen time and every line spoken by the "corrupted" but absolutely correct at his reasonings Denzel Washington's cop Alonzo Harris. This is the second film I really really loved this year, first being Swordfish of course. The movie is so realistic and gritty, lots of black humor moments and violence, intense confrontations and a great soundtrack.
Now, please do go see it as soon as it comes to UK and don't listen to those arrogant critics, whom I'm sick of, who always, if you would care to notice, but they do always COMPARE a film to something else, of which they don't know **** about in the first place, without looking at the movie on its own merits. (I hope I can say/type ****, it is a PG rated word)
Anyway, I've listed 3 other similar films for a reason, others like it being City of Industry; Truth or Consequences, N.M.; so I was wondering what you think of them, and whether there are any similar films like that of which I might not be aware of :D
P.S. I don't usually listen to rap but this (Rock) Superstar track is really nice, it's featured prominently in theatrical and TV trailers as well as a few mins in the film. So I've got an MP3 (192kbps, 6.43mb) here if anyone wants, will be up for 48 hours, right click and save:
