Ordered a plasma a while ago with them (paid 10%) but instructed them to hold off on delivery until end of November/early December (its a long story).
Anyway I get a phone call last week stating I must take delivery of it a lot sooner. This week in fact. So I say OK, if it must be then so be it..they caught me unawares and there a few things I need to ask them. I went into the site and sent a mail to their accounts department last Thursday ..no reply. I then rang the bloke who rang me..answering machine time and time again. Have left 2 messages without any calls back. Phone the number on the site..it times out. The Dublin number on the site no longer exists as its shut down in Dublin..the manager is now in Belfast. Sent a mail on the site itself through the 'contact us' link on www.richersounds.ie..no reply as yet. I'm quite worried actually, even if they manage to successfully deliver it will the customer service be always as appalling as this?

I had a couple of minor issues with Richer recently. When I wrote to Julian Richer he answered my queries quickly and was indeed very generous in compensation. Can not complain about HQ !

As I'm sure you know Dan the 2 Irish stores were always run seperately from the Mainland stores, CS can be patchy at times and if you're worried about a major purchase like a plasma either threaten to, or actually cancel using the delivery issue as your grounds.

As you have pointed out that its a long story I presume it wont be as straightforward as the above suggestion but maybe the threat might make them sit up and notice.

As Big Davel says, a letter to J.R usually gets a result.

Hope it works out for you.

Richer Sounds in Belfast are possibly the worst 'hi fi' retailer I have ever come across

I too wrote to Julian Richer complaining about the Belfast store and got a reasonably quick reply from the man himself with some vouchers as compensation.

Mind you I doubt I will ever use them as they never seem to have stock of any 'bargain' items.

I generally avoid them like the plague :(

I don't think the Belfast store is all that bad. I'd say a lot of the stock that they receive gets allocated pretty quickly to both the staff, their friends and family and then the regulars (The guys that you see in regular clothing that are there EVERY time you are there)

Jason, the manager I think is a decent bloke. He's given me plenty of deals in the past and lots of other freebies (for instance, exchanged a 5M S-Video to a 10M one for no extra charge etc)

I did have a problem a while a go with my current Eltax Movie Box Speaker package (the one that was 69.99). Months past without hearing anything about my order until I did about of investigative work myself (called head office) and was sorted straight away.

Lets face it though, it's not like there are many other places in Belfast that you'll receive as good a bargain as you would usually get in Richer Sounds. (They only other independant dealer I can think off is Lyric Hi-Fi and they only seem to do the rediculously expensive stuff)

I agree that the prices (especially compared to the south) are very impressive..I do have the right number of course, it goes onto Daves (the bloke who rang me) answering machine! What worries me is that now its Tuesday and I haven't received a reply to any mails, even the one I posted on their site. Nor has the 2 messages I left on their phone been replied to. Even if I get the plasma this saturday I'll be worried about the state of customer service if something should go wrong.

I went into the canteen, made a cup of coffee, came back to find a message from Richer Sounds on my phone. I rang the number..just leads to a load of beeps. :brickwall
Managed to get the manager and he was very apologetic..looks like I'm getting plasma Thursday!
