...no not Aardman's animators, but the Great British Public who provided all the wonderful interviews and are credited as such at the end of each episode. Well get this. The DVD makers want to rip us off! Yep, several stores have got Series One up for preorder starting at a very reasonable £12.99. Well at least it looks reasonable until you see that Amazon list it as "Series One, Part One" and some of the other sites that only list it as Series One have shots of the packaging which clearly says "Part One" . The description on all the sites says 13 episodes though.
On further investigation on the official site (http://www.creaturecomforts.tv), there is a trailer for the DVD, due out on November 17th, which says it is "Part 1" with 6 brand new episodes. This could be interpreted in two ways - either there are only six episodes on the DVD, or there are all 13, of which 6 will be brand new because they won't have aired on ITV yet.
So I posted a message on the forum there and I had a reply from someone working on the titles for Momentum:
Hi, I am working along side Momentum Pictures to promote this DVD and Video release. I saw your post and thought you might appreciate a reply! ;o) The DVD has over 90 minutes of footage with some fantastic exclusive extras (see the DVD page for details!) The nature of the series has meant that the title can only be released after the episodes have been aired on TV and since it's such a great stocking filler we wanted to ensure that everyone could own part 1 in time to enjoy it for Christmas!

So this confirms that the DVD will only be the first 6 episodes so the running time won't be very long. Only the extras pad it out to something respectable but you shouldn't be paying for them. So I replied asking if a single release of the whole series was planned after Christmas. This is the response:
Hi all, there are currently no plans to release the series as a whole. It is very common for releases of TV series to be split and if you consider the running time of other DVDs in today's market you will not that actually 90 minutes is a reasonable length for any release. Apologies if you feel that we are not keeping the British public in mind, but it is precisely for them that we are working so hard to make part one available in time for Christmas.

So it looks like we're going to have to pay around £25 to own the series, and in two parts! The only TV series that get split into two parts are the likes of Buffy that have over 20 episodes that each run at 45 minutes!

If anyone else is a bit miffed by this then feel free to sign up on the official site (http://www.creaturecomforts.tv) and reply to my thread in the General forum entitled "The DVD Why only part 1" (punctuation doesn't seem to work on their flash-heavy site). Maybe with a visible sign of discontent, we could encourage a rethink :)

Very mis-leading info from their PR people.

They’ll be looking at a lot of returns if the sites don’t update their details.

Isn’t the original Momentum Creature Comforts over 2 hours in length wth a free book? New release sounds like a bit of a con.
