Based on a couple of e-mails to a Zappaphile it would appear that it's going to be the same as the old VHS version.
It would be nice if it offered the superior remix to be found on the USA version of the cd as an extra audio track, but I can't see it happening in all honesty.

This is great news. I knew that Baby Snakes was on the cards for sometime soon, but its release now is a great surprise.
Play is finally stocking Zappa  never thought I'd live to see it, they've finally got 30 + CDs, and these two incoming DVDs.
Also worth mentioning The Band From Utopia: Tribute To The Music Of Frank Zappa (http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=92577) which was recorded the summer after Zappa's death (ie 1994) and features some longtime members of his band (Ike Willis, Bruce Fowler, Kurt McGettrick, Robert (Bobby) Martin, Tommy Mars, Arthur Barrow, Ed Mann, Chad Wackerman and Tom Fowler) plus one other (Jay Dittamo). I'm surprised that they have this in stock as it was deleted at least a year ago (perhaps a rerelease then), and would highly recommend it (DTS DD & PCM).
If you didn't see that it was out, FZ:OZ (live 1976 Australian concert CD) was released last year as the first major release from the vaults, the ZFT (Zappa Family Trust) at the time were worried that there wasn't an audience for new releases and requested that 5000 fans bought the double CD in advance of them actually making it, in return they got a name check on an insert card in the CD (as a nearly 20 year Zappa fan, it was the least I could do to pay over the odds to help secure futher releases). Its a great release and finally has started being sold in the mainstream online stores.
The most recent release is the DVD-A Halloween. Created from the five 1978 NYC shows its a great representation of the era. Plays in DVD-A 5.1, DTS 5.1 and PCM 2.0. Zappa never sounded better.
If rumours at Zappa.com are true in the next 6 months (though it has been on the cards for at least 18 months) then we should also soon see the release of The Roxy Concert, a three hour DVD of the shows that were broadcast on TV and later released as 1974's Roxy and Elsewhere. Fingers crossed.

There is now tracklisting and cover art posted for Does Humor Belong In Music? The cover photo is the same as the VHS, but different layout. The tracklisting is the same too.
Zoot Allures
Tinsel Town Rebellion
Trouble Every Day
Hot Plate Heaven at the Green Hotel
The Dangerous Kitchen
He’s So Gay
Bobby Brown
Keep it Greasey
Honey, Don’t You Want a Man Like Me?
Dinah-Mo Humm
Cosmic Debris
Be in My Video
Dancin’ Fool
Whippin’ Post
The 1985 VHS was stereo, and I'll be surprised if EMI has spent any time or money improving the sound or video quality. Still at £9.99 its £5 cheaper that my VHS copy cost me in 1985. Still hoping for a miracle though.

Well, the packaging's shoddy, the disc is a direct port of the VHS and an average one at that, the sound is stereo, hell, my case was even smashed up when the disc finally arrived.
BUT
Zappa on DVD. You just can't beat that :notworthy And VHS or not, Does Humor is an insanely good live show.

My copy of Baby Snakes arrived today. Will post my opinion in a day or so.
Though I might resurrect this thread as I picked up 'Baby Snakes' last week and have reviewed it here (http://dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=57694) for DVD Times.
What I really want now is for 'The Amazing Mr. Bickford' to be released.

This thread resurrected again cos Play.com have listed the forthcoming dvd release of Dub Room Special (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump.php?url=http://playcom.at/thedvdforums^QS^DURL=http%3A//www.play.com/play247.asp%3Fpage%3Dtitle%26Cur%3D257%26r%3DR2%26title%3D728316%26P36%3DTJ2SV) (link affiliated)
Sadly it's not the Roxy concert Zappa dvd everybody's been waiting for (trailer of that appeared yonks ago) but it is a wide release of something previously only available on VHS by mailorder (or bootleg). Let's hope the dvd isn't bootleg vhs quality.
Track Listing :-
Dog Breath Variations / Uncle Meat
Room Service
Nig Biz
Approximate
Cosmic Debris
Cocaine Decisions
Montana
Tengo Na Minchia Tanta
Florentine Pogen
Stevie's Spanking
Stinkfoot
Flakes
Inca Roads
Easy Meat
Judging by that tracklisting the running order for the 2 concerts is mixed up ....

Zappa newb alert - where to begin ? :help:
Zappa is not easily categorised - he wrote classical music, rock songs, instrumental rock (including multiple cds of guitar improvisations), satire rock, rude rock songs, political songs.
Where to start depends on where you's prefer to be.
If you want to watch him as well as listen have a butcher's at Baby Snakes dvd (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump.php?url=http://playcom.at/thedvdforums^QS^DURL=http%3A//www.play.com/play247.asp%3Fpage%3Dtitle%26Cur%3D257%26r%3DR2%26title%3D138338%26P36%3DTNTF2) - nearly 3 hours at under a tenner at Play.com (link affiliated)

I'm also quite new to Zappa, and absolutely love Hot Rats, especially Willie the Pimp, any suggestions for what other CDs I would like?
I already own Uncle Meat, Waka Jawaka and The Gran Wazoo...

If you like the Captain's vocal on Willie the Pimp, how about Bongo Fury - the joint Zappa/Beefheart (live) album?
edited to move misplaced apostrophe, talking of which, how about Apostrophe(')?

I've not really got into Zappa, but I guess from the above track listing including "Stevie's Spanking" that this DVD will include Steve Vai on guitar.
Any idea whether as a non-Zappa, but big Vai fan, this would be a good DVD to get?
Cheers

That sounds most great! Willie the Pimp is a great track, great music and great vocals from Beefheart.
Thanks!

Mr Vai was in the band at the time & if it's anything like the 11 min 1982 version from Italy that features on 'You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol 4') it should feature an epic guitar battle at the end.
I do have an edited clip of SS live that was shown as part of the Beeb tribute when Zappa died - wonder if it's from the Halloween 1981 gig featured on this upcoming dvd

I've no experience of these suppliers and there's not much clue in the Suppliers Forum - anyone used em?
