I almost didn't want to watch this as it would mark the end of a fantastic TV show. But I watched it anyway -- and a fabulous swansong it is. From the opening message and the inspired selection for this episode's obscure cartoon, through cameos by Hedonismbot and the Zapper, I found this very satisfying and very funny. And Dan Castellaneta is superb again as the Robot Devil.

I thought the story was touching, imaginative and original, but the real joy was when it turned into a musical! The Robot Devil's spinny-wheel thing was surely engineered for freeze-frame fanatics (try it -- it lists just about every robot to appear on the show), and some of the backgrounds had fleeting cameos (in one, Humorbot 5.0 was in conversation with the comedian from the ep My Three Suns). The ending was lovely, and at least provided closure to the programme.

Best line for me was part of Leela's song... which I can't remember exactly. Something like: "Deception is the curse of my whimsical gender". (May have been word other than "whimsical"...)

It's a real shame that this is the last ep. I haven't seen any of this season though so I've still got them to look forward to on DVD :D .
I'm particularly looking forward to the one with the Star Trek cast.
:dork:

Class show.

:notworthy :notworthy

Bite my shiny metal -- oh nooo...!

I'm incapable of posting any kind of critique of Futurama without it descending into a frenzy of quotes so I won't bother ;)

Last episode ever -- :(

But at least it went out on a high without becoming an embarassing shadow of itself (Hi Simpsons  )

I cannot believe that Fox have cancelled this and yet are continuing with The Simpsons indefinately. IMO The Simpsons is no longer anywhere near as good as it once was.

Ok, just finished watching it. Great episode as usual, nice ending too.

As Stu quoted I think that the best line had to go to Bender with:

Bite my shiny metal -- oh nooo...!

I really hope that someone else picks this up and commissions more episodes.

Mmm. Great episode. Although the best line was Bender on his Godzilla fighting in the opera thing.

The animation was top notch, too - did they just spend all their money on it? I think they did.

Just watched it and not too bad. At least most of the cast members, past and present, were in it for short periods. Not the best ever episode, but it did end as it should have.

roll on the much mooted Futurama movie.

If that actually happens, presumably the writing staff will get back together, meaning that Fox can still renew the show...

(although with Family Guy, they renewed it after the crew had split up so it took a year for any new episodes to even begin to be ready. Then they did cancel it the following year)
