Someone looted a "Mystical Orb" from one of the dark jedi knights I was playing with earlier, wonder if thats something new to do with the force quests? :thinking:

Thats the thing you get from lady Vals quests isnt it? I think it looks like a white crystal with a light in it. Pretty sure its just random object, but maybe when jedi goes quest based it might be needed for something.

Yup. Flora setting maxed, actually most setting maxed. I took off shadows yesterday however, as net connection is slower (512) at my parents. Thats being fixed in a few days :thumbs:

TC got an update the other day with the following:


Doctor: Added new Doctor Disease & Poison Resistance Buffs.
Misc: Poisons and diseases no longer automatically hit, but now have a chance to hit based on their potency. Most current poisons & diseases will affect the target a similar amount of time. The resistance effectiveness of the Poison Resist & Disease Resist Buffs will reduce the chance of being affected by a poison or disease. There will always be a 5% chance of being affected and a 5% chance of resisting no matter how high the resistance or potency ratings get.
Misc: Increased turret hitpoints by a factor of three.

and

Crafting Quests: Increased the practice XP reward for crafting jobs by a small amount
Doctor: Added point blank area poison & disease cures for Doctors



now, although its good to see them moving their backsides to help sort PvP out (by fixing combat medics and giving new buffs) i think that the disease/poison resistance buffs being given to docs is a bit sucky- docs have enough by being able to provide stat buffs- just giving people temp buffs is a pretty weak solution to the problem. combat medics still dont belong in the game in they way they currently are :(

added the edit with extra notes. areacure for docs is a good thing though :thumbs:

heres hoping they remove stun damage (on a temp basis) and either make mind healable or remove/change every special that targets the mind until the revamp. PvP would playable then :thumbs:

either way, a good sign they pulled their finger out and are doing something

cool, how does the hermit quest work?

whats the ring do? just rez you automatically if you die within a 24hour period?

edit: just read a guide, looks like it requires a lot of time looking over tat for spawns:(

ugh- just just read that they are removing the ability to loop macros/activate a macro from within a macro.

this is good for afk macroers but but it means byebye CoB macro loop, crafting is going to be tedius (although can just bind the macro to a key to make it easy to get through, still way slower). going to hurt dancers/musicians very hard- applying a musican buff is now going to mean that i have to stop in my char for ~6mins odd spamming crap unless i can make a macro long enough to last out 6mins worth of flourishs without looping :(

Looks like I'll have to stock up on muon gold :(

Or brandy/canape. Just as good as a full dancer/musician buffs if you get decent stuff :n0rty:

I don't know, everytime my character starts on the brandy he ends up getting thrown out of a cantina, wanders off looking for a worrt with chilli sauce before rounding off the night laying on the ground at the starport barking random insults at people :suspect:

Actually, it's going to help dancers and musicians a whole lot. Just look at the official dancer and musician forums and you will see that the mood there is definitely celebratory.

Of course, entertainers there do recognise that this change might mean a dip in available buffs at first but you'll also see that entertainers accept that it means that live entertainers will have to make an extra effort to be available to give buffs to those who want them. The hope is that this will reinject life into the entertainer classes and that, after a period of adjustment, you won't have much trouble finding buffs because live entertainers will simply be more numerous and easier to find (see the entertainer chat channels being set-up on quite a few servers, ...).

As for buffing, I don't nsee why you might not be able to fit a buff cycle in one macro. But even if you can't and need to split the macro in 2, it would still only mean invoking the buff macro twice over a buff giving period, wouldn't it?

Crafters are probably dreading the prospect of more tedious grinding more than most. But there are suggestions for the devs to enhance the practice mode to help counterbalance this, so the grinding doesn't become incredibly longer and more tedious.

All in all, we'll have to see how all this will be implemented but I personally think that it is a change for the best, when you take a long term view.

Well I'd have thought you'd be able to use numerous macros, maybe on a tool bar to buff. Each one linking to the next. It's only when you try to link to the first again that it will not work.

although i agree its for the best, just little things which are pretty useful as they are with looping macros, just means will need to restart them every couple minutes now though.

Rav, i assume they will get around that too- they want to make it so you cant activate a macro from within a macro.

You have to be able to start a macro within a macro, just not run the same macro again.

Keep (and plot ahead) a register of all the macros called before a break and if the same one is called twice you know its recursive/might be recursive and so illegal (maybe put a hard cap of calling 10/20/?? other macros or aliases in as well).

Not sure what the processing requirements / coding difficulties would be though so they might just bodge and not allow calling of macros or aliases within macros or aliases (isn't that how the game started? there was talk at the beginning of there being no recursive macros so I thought people had really long alias files).

p.s. should add I don't think it'll be that bad for crafters. I've ground crafting with non-looped macros where they still run through a whole set of items and its all in a single alias. Means an extra button press every 6 items (although you could stretch that out much more depending on how long aliases can legally be) but that isn't exactly ill when you've got to be at the keyboard double clicking anyway.

Hi all. I haven't been on since April/May and I'm slowly working myself from page 158 upwards. Can anyone condense all the happenings/changes to the game to the most important ones since May? And how do I get on the DVDForum chat channel? Still downloading the update and it's going to take 9 hours!!

to get onto dvdf ingame - right click on spatial tab, choose "join chat channel", then look for dvdf/dvdforums on the list. Im not sure which folder its in just now, it was the first or second. Click on the name & the join button is on the left. Im auto-joined now when i log in, so maybe you'll only have to join once & next time you load the game you'll auto-join too?

Biggest changes recently, I'd say you'd most likely notice lots of durty, uber jedi everywhere not getting tefs using their saber & also when you try to change your weapon in combat there is now a delay (no more kd, pull out flamer, burn. Im not commando anymore, but that was the only time i used commando moves/weapons).

9 hours! :eek:. I downloaded the entire 2Gb game (trial) in less than that!.

Can't play it now though :(. Thanks SOE, hook people into a trial, then withdrawn the game from purchase :brickwall

spent alot of the weekend on the test centre and it seems like the 1st part to unlocking is doing all the poi/exploration badges (main ones of importance seem to be the jedi related like bens house and the temple of exar etc)

it seems that between 50-75 badges are needed to get the visit from the mysterious stranger

the next part is broken at the moment :nuts: but still its a start

Any idea when are they gonna remove the ability for recursive macros ? i still have to attain my weaponsmith rank :( (was master artisan in 2 days with the macro)

instead of using "/macro grind" drag the macro to the tool bar and use "/ui action toolbarSlotxx" where xx = slot 00-23

had a dancer on test centre running all night doing it that way :D

14 day FREE trial in the UK
Not sure whether you want to purchase Star Wars Galaxies? Can't download the free 14 day trial offered outside of the UK? Well the wait is over!!

The PC gaming press in the UK will have 14 day trials on the cover mounts of their CDs, so you can trial Galaxies for 14 days without using any kind of credit card. The trial has been popular in the USA where people could download the 14 day trial over a fileplanet website.

This wasn't best suited for UK'ers but the cover mount CDs gives you the chance. Also, as reported earlier, the recent CD key problems and stock problems have been resolved, so if Galaxies hooked you after the 14 days, you can happily purchase the game and continue in the greatest Star Wars story ever told.... YOURS

We have just been informed that those of you finding it difficult to locate a copy of Star Wars Galaxies and those of you who have experienced incorrect CD keys - will have to wait no more!

During August, stock levels (with the correct cd keys) will soon be on the shelves of your local retailer. However, we are still waiting to hear on Game Cards for Europe


Now it's just a question of how long it actually takes for the stock to hit the shelves, and will places like GAME actually sell them (given the problems of people buying them for the key and returning them)?


Interestingly they have been reporting that sales of the game was very poor in the UK, which is partly why there's been no rush to get new stocks out. Maybe the trial will make a difference as people have a chance to get hooked into it without looking at a 2Gb download. I used to always do it that way before I found out about the /macro "macroname" command. I can't think that it will go untouched, as it does the exact same thing.....

When i bought it from Game I was told it was non returnable when opened due to the key & that the discs are only needed to install the game. So I dont see how they had problems.

The downside of this is the possibility of European servers suddenly becoming a lot more busy!

Someone (here?) said some GAME stores were refusing to sell it because of these problems, rather than just refusing to accept returns. It would make sense to just do the latter, but then wouldn't that be against your consumer rights or something?

Oooh that - yeah my macro is based on that anyway (ui action....) - I thought the recursive way to invoke the button press at the end of the macro was being disabled LOOL

btw, how do I modify it so that it doesnt boot me off - do I use /afk or somethign ?

bah, it may be ghey setting but game play wise looks loads of fun from videos i've seen.

no kill stealing sounds :o plus all the npcs having voice-over looks and sounds pretty damn impressive for a game so big

if you want to just leave char afk without being kicked to macro something like;

/stand;
/pause 300;
/macro afkmacro;

or something- i think /echo might also work to keep you from being booted
