Just wondering if anyone has seen Dog Days. A friend of mine keeps recommending it. He says it's pretty sick. I'm fairly open to any type of movie. Also is the R2 release of this any good quality wise. Thanks.

Yeah, it is sick ... like most Austrian movies made recently.
It is about people in an Austrian suburb during a very hot summer - you get to see some really disgusting scenes of violence (against women and handicapped people) , hardcore porn and other things people would not even talk about. Probably the toughest movie ever made. I hated it when I saw it in the cinema, but most critics seem to love it. To fully comprehend all the movie's nasty details it helps to speak German...
Definitely not for the faint-of-heart :nono:
Plays like a real-life version of David Lynch meets hardcore

I thought it was a great film :D
The UK disc is very good too :)

Maybe I didn't like because I am actually Austrian... and the movie reminded me a bit too much of my neighbours :gag:

Thanks for the info guys. I think I'll give it a try - the same friend recommended Irreversible to me and I enjoyed (probably the wrong word) that very much.
By the way, do you know if Dog Days has been cut at all as the run-time seems to be 2 minutes shorter than what is stated on IMDB.

I watched it this afternoon and the people in the film are really in the belly of life's mundanity: miserable, lonely, ugly, sleazy, desperate, despondent, and self disrespecting. Truly depressing to watch. It's an excellent film but completely unidealistic, unromantic and unsentimental. I really should have had something cheerful planned for after the end credits!
