Agreed that he shouldn't be palying simply because we need to get a new wicketkeeper asap. Having said that he is still a class batsman
You didn't look very far did you Doc.I had already started a thread .

50 not out, and still the best Wk in the Country, Age don't matter. Hope he goes on to beat Gooch's record for most Test Runs, needs around 800+ I think.

Exactly why blood someone else when, Stewart is the best. On his day he is a great batsman to boot . Scores runs for fun
Currently 285-5, Stewart on 58 and McGrath on 60, having made a century partnership and certainly saved England from the disgrace of going from 109-1 to 156-5 in an afternoon :(
And good old Channel 4 cut the coverage :brickwall
What do you mean Alan,Sky always show 1 home Test Match live.

At least you can't moan about C4 interrupting the cricket with the horse racing for this Test paul ;).
I did honestly forget not helped by the day from hell at work, nice reply kjn6371

CHESTER-LE-STREET (Reuters) - Zimbabwe fast bowler Heath Steak has removed Alec Stewart to leave England on 306 for six early on the second morning.
Stewart, lbw to a ball which kept low, added one to his overnight score to make 68 out of a 149-run stand with Anthony McGrath (73 not out).
Heath Steak? What's that then? Maybe a piece of meat found on the common?

The Aussies would have given someone else the gloves by now!

11-3 Now
But Let's face it, England were expected to win both Tests and Zimbabwe are the the worst Test Team in the world, and Yes, I'm including Bangledesh.
11-3. This could be a very very short game.
35-7. The ECB must be cacking themselves as tomorrow is Sold Out and there is real possibility it may not make it past today

nah - reckon they'd have lost on the day anyway as rain is forecast is it not?

hmmm...
5 lbws - anyone who's seen them care to comment?
It'll all be over tomorrow (even with some rain).

6-1
Looks like England are already getting stuck into the Zimbabwean 2nd innings.

I know they're playing at the Riverside but I didn't expect to see this many ducks! :)
41-1 at the close. Looks like another three-dayer. With an innings like the first one from Zimbabwe it does sometimes call into question why they have test status.

Just seen Johnson's wickets and on first viewing all 5 lbws look absolutely plumb.
Well Zimbabwe are now proud holders of the record for the most wickets lost to lbw in a test innings - 7 !
And :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy to Richard Johnson, what a stunning debut. 6-33, absolutely fantastic. Let us hope that this continues against more serious opposition.
Let's not forget the contributions of McGrath (81), Stewart (68) and amazingly to follow up his 52 in the first test - Giles who made 50 - he is in the middle of a golden patch the moment with the bat because he also made 71no against Essex earlier in the week.
For Zimbabwe Vermeulen has made a pair. Hopefully England can complete the job tomorrow without having to bat again although this will result in another three day test and I wouldn't have thought that the powers that be at Durham would be to happy with this.

I wouldn't have thought that the powers that be at Durham would be to happy with this. Remember the England - West Indies game at Headingley a few years back, when England won inside two days? I spoke to some of the staff the following year - apparently the club lost a fortune in merchandising, pitch rents for all the stores and with all the beer they had bought in for the weekend. The ECB had to cover as much as they could, but YCCC was still stuck with a hell of a lot of West Indies merchandise. Mind you, it was going dirt cheap the year after ;)
I suppose in one way Durham might hope it rains all day tomorrow so it lasts at least four days.
Rain? In Durham? Surely not :|
So do we think Zimbabwe will hold on to the end of the morning session?
Looks like it so far, they are currently 60-1, although England have just had a close lbw (surprise surprise) turned down.
Zimbabwe now 68-2, Carslile going to a diving catch from Robert Key.
The commentators on R4 LW were saying that the side playing today bore no relation to the side that collapsed last night.
They are batting much better than what they did in the first innings, mind you they couldn't have got much worse.
I still think it is only a matter of time before a few more wickets tumble.
102-3 now
A bit lucky this third wicket as the ball was clearly missing the stumps but umpire Hair gave him out. He was also given out lbw in the first innings but got an inside edge.

Anderson strikes once more, 113-4 (come on Johnson, let's have five from you now ;) )
Who has gone? Grant Flower or Taibu?
132-5 now, let's wrap it up quickly.Ervine & Friend are at the crease now.

I would like to say how pleased I am that the new players in particular are doing so well for England. I know it is Zimbabwe that we are playing but it makes me wonder why we didn't try some of these (or different) players years ago. Instead we had to put up with sight of "poor old" Angus Fraser and Andy Caddick toiling away.
Come on the ECB give the new players a really good run.
190-6, looks like the end is not far off.
202 - 7, Heath Streak run out, but what a bizarre dismissal. Friend drove the ball straight back and Harmison dropped a caught and bowled but the ball went straight onto the stumps where Streak was out of his ground.
And they are still 119 from the English first innings. Looks like another innings defeat on the cards.
Ray Price goes for 6, Zimbabwe now 244-9. Nearly all over.
EDIT - England win by an innings and 69 runs
That means no cricket tomorrow.
James Anderson, 11 wickets in the match. Wow :notworthy

To much Red Wine eh Paul ;) :D
Well I dare not answer you back Alan. I don't want a week's holiday :(
Nope, no red tonight, just scanned the article and misread it. I blame being on call and dealing with dumbass users!

...having seen the 7 lbws (thank you Ch4 for putting the highlights on so late!) hawk-eye showed one was definitely missing and another couple barely clipped the stumps. I would have thought that there was a reasonable amount of doubt to the naked eye to give them not out.
One of the LBWs should not have been given because the batsman got an inside edge, but I don't think that is one of Johnson wickets anyway. Even if they had been given the benefit of the doubt I wouldn't have thought it would have been to long before England would have dismissed them anyway.
