I think Geremi will end up regret going to Chelsea to be honest - he was one of the first signings they made I think, but now they seem to be buying someone every other day - there's only so many players who can get a game on a regular basis and a lot of them will get fed up warming the bench I would have thought.
Still wish we had him at Boro :(
Ron Geremi - a true star :)
Inter Milan have denied it!

Crespo to Chelsea pretty much confirmed now:
http://www.soccerage.com/en/13/p5959.html
08/22/2003. Inter chairman Massimo Moratti has officially confirmed that the Nerazzurri have reached an agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of Argentinean striker Hernan Crespo.
"We have six strikers, perhaps we need to add something where we need most, that's to say in defence" Moratti said. "Cuper has nothing to do with this choice: Crespo wanted to play, and only Vieri can be considered as a regular here".
Inter's sporting director Marco Branca ealier denied that a deal had been struck with the Premiership's lavish spenders, but it is now understood that an offer worth 30million euros has been accepted.
Subject to the completion of 'minor details' Crespo will join fellow Argentine international and former Lazio team-mate Juan Sebastian Veron at Stamford Bridge as Roman Abramovich's revolution of the West London club continues.
The striker becomes the eighth big name signing since the Russian took over at the club, joining the likes of Adrian Mutu and Damien Duff af the club, while it takes his summer spending above the £90m mark.
Andrea Rosselli
Hopefully get Crespo as saw some of his goals and he seems an excellent buy.
If we can loan out Smertin then why can't we do the same to Bogarde? Surely make him play for someone else, maybe he can do some good for them instead....
Can't wait to be down the bridge for the first home game tomorrow against Leicester.

Rumoured to be around £7 million - Ferguson has also stated that he wants to leave "as quickly as possible", so the bid will almost certainly be accepted.
That certainly leaves Rangers in a dire state. The championship looks to be heading to Parkhead already.

Souness must be loving what's happened in terms of transfer activity at Ewood Park this summer. He's bought in £22 million from the sales of Duff and Dunn, and has spent around £11.5 million on Reid, Emerton, Amoruso and Ferguson (if the deal goes through). Great business from Blackburn's point of view.

i think Ferguson will fall flat on his face, i really do not think he is good enough for the Priemership - Dunn was twice the player he is.

A caller on Talksport yesterday said he had inside knowledge  that the deal would go through as £4.75m + Matt Jansen. I'd be surprised if it did, as Rangers need every penny they can get.
According to Planetfootball, Boro have agreed to take Zenden & Munitis on loan. BUT both players have other options so may reject the move.

I agree its pretty impressive, but not exactly the most defensive midfield!!
I think it is more likely that we have bid for both, hoping that one of them will agree to come. We have Boateng as our defensive midfielder, so he would partner Mendieta, one of two mentioned above (if one comes) with Juno behind two strikers.
Looks certain that Danny Mills will be coming on loan also (not sure about him).
Looks like both Zenden & Muntis have turned down moves to The Riverside, so we have turned our attentions to a loan deal for Lazio winger Christian Manfredini.
Don't know much about him except he was very good for Chievo, but has been unable to hold down a place at Lazio since a 5M pound move there.
Anyone rate him?

Barry Ferguson is overated, not worth even £5M IMO...
Wolves have signed former Middlesborough star Emerson from Atletico Madrid. The fee is believed to be around £1.2 million.

Barca are apparently tabling a bid for Arsenal's eighth choice midfielder Van Bronckhorst.
Would be a good deal for a couple of million as, having come from Rangers, he is probably on a higher salary. He is on the fringes of the team anyway and if he gets a game, it has been at left-back where he is crap! Clichy can play there. Plus it will open the door a little for Pennant when he returns from loan.
The Dutch national manager wants all players playing regulary for their club or they wont be picked - wont be surprised if he goes - no loss to anybody.

Liverpool have confirmed that Markus Babbel has joined Blackburn Rovers on loan for the rest of the season.
Babbel and his advisors have been in talks with the Ewood Park club over the last couple of weeks and a deal has now been struck for the German defender to spend the rest of this season with Graeme Souness' side.
Babbel will have to wait to make his debut, however, as he must still serve two more matches of a suspension picked up following a red card playing for the reserves at the end of last season.
His contract with Blackburn runs until June 30, 2004.

The deal was approved by Fulham owner Mohamed Al Fayed late on Tuesday, according to Marseille.

- Wenger talking about Wiltord, who still hasn't signed a new contract so could leave for free next summer.
Interesting because it is very unclear what the sticking point is.
Wiltord apparently likes to play: Well he's played more games for us in the last 2 years than any other player.
Wiltord likes to play up front, but is happy playing in midfield as he does this for the national team.
I wonder if perhaps he was hoping that one of the Euro giants (Real, AC or similar) might come in for him? Can't see a sticking point myself, very odd.

I completely agree. Makalele has arguably been Real Madrid's most important player over the past few years. He's the only quality defensive midfielder they've got (Helguera has been playing in defense for a couple of years). Madrid are making a big mistake selling him IMO.

Leeds United have rejected an official bid from Internazionale for Mark Viduka. The offer included the possibility of 3 Inter players moving to Elland Road.
Valencia forward John Carew is available for transfer according to his club. Everton, Blackburn, Rangers, Roma, Newcastle and Monaco are among the clubs in the race to sign him.
Rangers have signed former Middlesborough star Emerson from Atletico Madrid. He rejected moves to Celtic and Wolves who will be hugely upset after being in pole position to land the Brazilian before Rangers hijacked the move at the 11th hour.
The Claude Makalele transfer from Real Madrid to Chelsea has hit a problem after Real Madrid decided to take liberties and demand a higher transfer fee than the £13.8 million they had previously agreed with the London club. They are now thought to be demanding £15 million for the French international.
Blackburn have completed the signing of Scottish international Barry Ferguson for £7 million.

Emerson could be a decent addition. He certainly provides another option in midfield.
I would love to see us sign John Carew and thankfully we can offer the lure of Champions League football. We need a goalscorer and Carew has scored goals at Rosenborg and Valencia. He's also scored 13 times in the Champions League. Would be good signing on loan and a great permanent signing IMO.

Leeds have completed the loan signing of Milan defender Roque Junior, according to reports.
The Brazilian defender has told the Italian media that he has put pen to paper on a season-long deal after successfully completing a medical on Saturday.
The deal was too late to allow him to make his debut at Middlesbrough, but despite winning the World Cup and Champions League in the past two seasons, Roque Junior believes Leeds and the Premiership are the right move.
"We have closed the negotiations," he said. "This will be a very important chapter in my career.
"The English championship is great. I have been through the medical examination and signed the contract. I know my manager and he is a great person."
Peter Reid is also expected to complete the signing of Cameroon midfielder Solomon Olembe in the next few days.

madstu I can see what you're saying on a wider scale - if a club such as Chelsea has so many players that they then loan out to lesser clubs, they then effectively control the league. If Zenden does brilliantly then they will recall him from loan and spoil Boro's chances. They can control how well other clubs do.

From SkySports.com
Blackburn have loaned Italy international midfielder Dino Baggio for the rest of the season, Lazio have confirmed.
The 32-year-old has been training with Blackburn and manager Graeme Souness has been impressed enough to keep him at Ewood Park until next summer.
Baggio, who has won 60 caps for Italy, becomes Souness' third signing since the £17 million sale of Damien Duff to Chelsea, following the arrivals of Markus Babbel and Barry Ferguson.
"SS Lazio would like to announce that they have come to an agreement with Blackburn Rovers for the temporary transfer of midfielder Dino Baggio for the 2003-4 season," the Serie A side in a statement.
Baggio has previously played for Juventus, Parma, Inter Milan and Torino
How many midfield players do they need?? :D

I doubt we will get him as DOL has been told to send player's out on loan if he want's to loan someone in.
The only way I can see him wanting Jeffers is if Vassell's injury (A pelvic problem he has had for 2 years) is quite serious and will rule him out for a while.
Angel works well with a pacy striker alongside him Dublin and Allback dont fit this mold. That said I would assume he would give Stefan Moore a run out before trying to loan somebody in.

Arsenal Football Club have today signed United States international Daniel Karbassiyoon. The 19-year-old striker, who previously played for American side Roanoke, has enjoyed success with both the Under-17 and Under-19 international sides.
Czech Republic Under-19's international Michal Papadopulos has joined Arsenal on loan. The exciting 18-year-old centre forward has joined the Club for one year from Czech side Banik Ostrava.
We also welcome back Olafur-Ingi Skulason, who returns after a successful loan period with Icelandic side Fylkir AC.

Charlton defender Paul Konchesky has joined London rivals Tottenham on a one-month loan deal.
As part of the deal central defender Chris Perry has moved to The Valley for the same period.
Methinks Spurs did well out of that!
Hold on - wasn't Konchesky's main beef with Charlton being that he wanted to improve his chances to play for England !!!!
Kevin Kilbane also now joining Everton!
German star Christoph Metzelder has confirmed he has rejected 11th hour transfer deadline moves to Manchester United and Real Madrid. Both clubs met Borussia Dortmund's asking price of £12.5 million.

Dunno about Utd, but I fully believe Madrid went after him. They were desperate to sign Ayala yesterday, I don't think that happened.

Not sure if it's been mentioned here already but according to Sky Sports News he also made a bid to bring Sergei Rebrov to the Reebok. Work permit problems apparently scuppered the deal.
Motherwell's James McFadden has signed for Everton. Moyes has been busy today.

Dundee director Giovanni di Stefano has revealed Paul Gascoigne was offered a player-coaching role at Dens Park before the transfer deadline.
The former England international was approached by the Tayside club after they failed in bids to sign Motherwell's James McFadden, Georgi Kinkladze, Deportivo La Coruna's Djalminha and an unnamed Atletico Madrid player who failed to turn up at Edinburgh airport where Dundee manager Jim Duffy was waiting.
They were also unsuccessful in bringing Gascoigne to the club, with the midfielder opting to stay with his current club, Al Jazira in the Middle East.
Di Stefano said: "Mr Duffy made a more than generous offer to Paul Gascoigne to join Dens as a player assistant coach.
"After some thought and proper consideration Gascoigne preferred Al Jazira Football Club."
 @ the Athletico Madrid player who didn't bother turning up :lol
