Samsung DVD/Video combi

I was thinking of replacing both video and DVD player and saw a Samsung DVD3E for £200. I've checked to make sure that it has a multi-region remote hack but I'm wondering if anyone has any comments on the machine itself?

Sound/pic quality ok? Or can anyone confirm if the hack (found on regionfreedvd.net) works?
