Me too. I am thinking of putting it on Albion to beat Elgin in Scottish Div. 3 tomorrow though.
I too would steer clear of backing against Burnley. The last time I did that they drew at Gillingham.
I can't believe I am seriously thinking about putting 100 quid on a football match. I must be

Horatio,
What about this for a win treble : England, Scotland & Italy ?
Hmmm, might not back on Stoke then

With Berti in charge, and his refusal to play the most exciting Scottish player for years (McFadden), I wouldn't touch Scotland with a bargepole. The Faroes have lost by only 1 goal to Iceland and Germany, and in both cases they were last minute goals.
PS While I think England should win, odds of almost 1/3 away from home are not very appealing when you consider the players injured or carrying knocks :oh-hum:
a much better way to do the vc cash back offer is on a 4 way accumulator this weekend
being a 4 way it negates the need for it to be evens or better
and there's at least 3 1/100 bets this weekend :)
france, romania and Turkey
nc's bet of the weekend
£10 on Brighton/Sheff Wed/QPR - PAYS 6/1!
A big bet for me, but I feel this is cracking value - now watch them all lose:oh-hum:
I was gonna do an international acca, but it would be a waste of time and money. The prices are way too short and there's bound to be an upset (or two.)
Ireland are a good team to stick in at evens have a fiver on them to WIN

Wednesday will be without Kuqi and Quinn as both are on international duty and they haven't won in their previous two home games while Tranmere have drawn their last two away. I think I'll avoid that match.
Well I've gone and done the VC promotion and lumped £100 on Stoke to beat Burnley
Burnley will prolly throw in Boltons 2 loan players Delroy Facey and Gareth Farrelly and maybe even another new player in Andy Todd.Hopefully they have not had time to gel yet !!
Their stiker is a doubt with a hip injury and they are also missing 2 regular defenders.
Bolton snapped up one of Burnleys best players in Glen Little and so I am hoping that their side is a little depleted and also that Stokes home advantage will give them a slight edge too.
If the worst comes to the worst and it is a draw or Burnley win, then I at least get £50 back that I can lump onto a double next weekend to get my original stake money back to put back into the bank :)
Here's to a quite stressfull afternoon !!

I was thinking of going for 4 big odds on games but the return was terrible and there is always more chance of that one big upset happening.
At least with this bet you either get a decent return or at worst,£50 to play with.

Yeah but Burnley are one of those unpredictable teams so I always avoid them. I was looking at it for a while this morning and was going to go with Luton or Ireland but I changed my mind.
Anyway there's still along way to go in the match so the bet's not lost yet.
Carl Asaba's pulled one back for Stoke and he's also been sent off.
Not looking good :(
Oh well, all is not lost yet.
I'm sure a well placed £50 double next weekend will recoup all losses :)

I too wouldn't of gone for Stoke afterall, where did they finish up last season and with the players Burnley have brought in, but thats what hindsight does for you, ive got£16 left in my account and looked for a good bet yesterday to lump it all on, i was gonna go for Italy, but didnt get the chance to get on the t'internet before going to Hillsborough and i fancied us, but not to the value of £16  :D with our home form and our players missing.
Anyway i have found a bet i like and have lumped on( to the value of £16 :D )
£16 on Shrewsbury @ 4/9
Doesn't return much but will make thematch more interesting, shame i can't find anywhere on Ukbetting to have abet on the Masters this afternoon.
My bet next week tho is based on sods law, Luke Beckett to score the first goal against us, a Wednesday fan and a target for Turner, so sod law states he is bound to bag the first :D

Today, I hope to have the bookies ducking for cover by backing KING EIDER in the 4.20 at York. This one's last run was it's first this year after being off for 9 months, and wasn't given a hard time under todays jockey Seb Sanders. It will be fitter today and must go well at odds of around 4/1.

Signed up with VC earlier this afternoon and placed:
£10 accumulator on home wins for Honefoss, Ham-Kam and Start and £100 bet on Cafe Opera to beat Sylvia tomorrow. Safety net of £50 cashback, thankfully.
Who'd have thought Scandinavian football could be so exciting (*cough*)
Any good tips for me and jonbaker to claw our original deposit back with next weekend ??
Am thinking of putting the £50 on a Man Utd and Arsenal double ??

Well I almost had a really bad weekend.
I decided to lump my 50 quid cashback from Vic Chandler on Shrewsbury to win at odds of 1/2. I couldn't believe it when Tamworth equalised after 89 minutes but thank god for Luke Rogers, WHAT A STAR.
Have decided to invest £6 on Huddersfield (+4) and Bradford (-10) in the Superleague. It pays about 3-1. So far so good.

QPR to beat Wycombe @ home to start, QPR with a 100% record at home so far without conceding a goal. Wycombe struggling near the bottom of the table and have lost all 3 of their away games.

Kalmar and Cafe Opera are both evens to win their matches tomorrow and I don't think you can go wrong with either.
Kalmar, who are seond in the league, look particulalry good value as they're in a rich vein of form which has seen them win 6 in a row, including 3 away wins in which they've scored 8 and conceded just one. They're playing IFK Malmo who are 3rd bottom and have lost their last 3.
Cafe Opera's from hasn't been too good in their last few games (they have have come up against Hackan and Kalmar though) but they're playing bottom team Sylvia who are plain hopeless and have picked up just 2 points in there last 10 games.
Allright,
I've just joined up with betfair and have decided to start laying on horses. My mate explained how it works with his bookies say lay 50 quid on a 4/5 fav and get 40 back. But i dont have a clue how betfair works can anyone explain ?
LAY: To bet against a selection, enter the odds and stake you would like a backer to take. If you win your bet, your profit is the backer's stake. The amount you stand to lose is shown in the liability column.
Thats what it says but how comes i can change the odds and whats with the backers odds and backers stake !
Someone help im very confused !

Right I'll have a go at explaining.
When you lay a selection on betfair you're basically offering odds to other people on that selection winning. So if you enter 1.8 in the backers odds then you're offering odds of 4/5. Then you chose what kind of stake you're willing to cover and enter that amount in the backers stake. So if you've entered backers odds of 1.8 and backers stake of £100 that means you'll have to pay out £80 if the horse wins and if it loses then you keep the backers stake of £100. If you offer odds of 3.0 and backers stake of £100 then you keep £100 if the horse loses or pay out £200 if the horse wins. I hope this helps.
Not really but thanks
Actually it is a help. So by laying on this website say england to loose at the weekend there and i had a tenner on it, i wouldnt only loose a tenner but i'd have to pay betfair money ?

You don't pay betfair anything except 2-5% commision on all winnings. When you lose on a bet you're paying out to another punter who took the odds you offered.
If you'd layed England at odds of 3.5 (those odds are made up :D)and you wanted to gamble £10 then you'd enter the backers stake as £4. As England won you would have lost your £10 but if they'd lost you would have got the backers stake of £4 (betfair would take 5% of the £4 as commission so you'd actually only get £3.80.)
Sorry if I'm confusing you more.
Allmost there ! :D
Im going to just lay on horses so say i layed the minimum stake of £4 on a horse that was 4/5 never mind how much i win and the horse i layed ended up wining i would just loose my 4 quid or would i loose more ?

Right when you click on lay one of the horses and that side window thing with the backers odds and backer stake opens, at the bottom it says what the liability on the bet is so that's how much you can lose on that bet. (If I'd remebered that earlier it would have saved confusion.)
In your example do you mean you're going to enter £4 in the backers odds? In that case the most you can lose is £3.20. Basically multiply backers odds by backers stake and that's how much you can lose.
Hopefully someone else will explain things more clearly than I am. :help:
Yea i understand now
Allthough in my example i ment in the backers odds

Spain, Germany, Slovakia looks to be a good treble at about 6/4.
I quite fancy the Czech Republic to beat Holland considering the internal conflicts that must be having some impact on Holland's morale. This game is really the group decider, it's in Prague and apparently Holland have been getting criticism from the press/public over the latest internal arguments so I reckon Holland will bottle it.

Good call re. the Czech Republic, 2-0 up with 48 mins gone (hope I don't curse you ;)) I couldn't of had that myself.
I wouldn't rush to back Spain myself, recent qualifying form is not so good and the Ukraine are a stubborn side.

I've taken a rest from betting for the past few weeks, but this weekend have decided to go for a very risky accumulator:
Man Utd, Arsenal, Celtic and Rangers.
£15 @ 2.37
My football bets are in early as I'm gonna concentrate on the horses tomorrow.
Blackpool/Brighton/QPR - pays 6/1
Cardiff/Sunderland/Walsall - pays 6/1
And a speculative £1 acca - Burnley/Peterborough/R&Ds/Stranraer/Huddersfield/Bristol City - pays 200/1!

Swindon vs Wrexham

Sheffield Wednesday vs Stockport
Sheffield Wednesday :notworthy @ 1/2

RasTa how's it going with laying the gee gee's on betfair?.
My 'Tartan Treble' for this Saturday is this......AIRDRIE, MORTON and GRETNA.....pays 10/1, and rates a fighting bet as far as I'm concerned.
I'll be on the Owls as well slip, considering that they're the only team that has made me cash this season so far
Another one that stands out to me is ROCHDALE to beat Carlisle......they're 4th top playing a side that have only scored 1 goal in 6 games ........and are better than evens to beat them

According to LiveScore.com and Eurosport.com it was Marco Materazzi who got the goal for Inter but the Sky Sports Live Score Centre had it down as an own goal. Who cares as long as we got the right result!
That win along with Roma and Parma winning has set me on the way to making a profit for the weekend despite yesterday's loss.
EDIT - Fenerbache, Valencia have also done the business. Benfica conceded two goals in the last minute to draw 3-3! Come on Sporting Lisbon - you better win!
Well from me winnings re invested £3 in under 11 corners in the Brum game, would of gone for under 45 points in the bookings, but as i said, not sure what points you get for a red or a yellow card.

On the Radio this monring, Bluesq's Ed saying :
Chelsea at evens or 11/10 is superb as Prague have lost 3 times in the Czech league already this season
Stuggart have conceded only once in 6 games (against Borrusia Dortmund) so 2/1 to beat Rangers is a massive price
Man Utd should beat Pana' easily
RVN is 9/4 to score the first goal (bad price)
3-0 is about 7/1
Hope this helps someone?

Ladbrokes Online Odds:
3-1 odds for Celta Vigo to win today against a crap side. :norty:
2-1 odds for Chelskov win, IMO sure win.
Ajax at 6-1 for a win against Milan (worth a tiny quids bet), Ajax very good at stalling away games... :suspect:
Acummy on Man Utd, Real Madrid and Chelskov to win against much weaker opponents.
Lazio 2.37-1 to win against a rubbish team, again hard to see any other outcome...
Stuttgart 2.75-1 for a win (Rangers lacking any quality at the back and midfield), possibly a draw but both sides are lacking IMO... :nono:
Porto also 2.37-1 to win against the side that knocked the gordies out, but the other side is managed by a German... :suspect:
I predict a hard time for the bookies tonight, some of the odds given is way too generous considering the quality gap between some sides, but this is the CL... :suspect:
Ajax vs Milan
that SCREAMS a draw to me
not backing it with any money though, something in me refuses to ever bet on draws :help:
I have a 10 quid accumulator on Real Madrid, Man Utd, and Brighton
My reasoning behind it is this, I lost money on real virtually every time i backed them last season, so I'm hoping by staking money on them, the jinx will continue :)
Way_2_FAT
16-09-2003, 11:42
Yep, Ajax did very well at stalling a lot of CL games last season like I mentioned above, they might even win tonights game at San Siro if they play really well...

Above game very risky I reckon, so going for it!!! :blah:
Gunners wasted!
A tiny acummy to follow...
EDIT:
Acummy on:
Real Sociedad, Deportivo and Juventus all to win.
Juve and Sociedad win as expected, Deportivo concedes a late goal for a draw! :blah:
Not a good day for quite a few here epspecially those with big stakes, just as well mines were "pocket change" wagers... :D
Now back to the Premiership.

Inter Milan to Win @ 3.80 Won
Bayern Munich to win @ 1.50 Won
Dynamo Kiev to win @ 1.72 Won
Juventus to win @ 1.30 Won
Real Sociedad to win @ 1.61
£5.49 @ 20/1
:)
Got to  at the bookies odds on Inter (and even what I took at Will Hill wasn't the best available).

Well done Mr Speed!
I didn't have time to post my bets yesterday as I was in a poker tourney.
There's 5 this afternoon at ladbrokes. Each has a $1,000 prize pool and entry is free! Click the multi-table tab.
Back to the bets - Depor screwed up my 6 team CL acca, but Derby/Cambridge gave me a winner at 5/1. A bit lucky, considering both teams were drawing with a couple of mins to go.

I'm not, I never bet on us in big games. :(
I am
Some nice odds for teams in form at the moment and Arsenal at 21-10 is a big price
DeadYankee

Chelsea
West Ham
Man U
Swansea
Madrid
Milan
Juventus
£5 on at about 54 to 1
potential winnings £265
likely winnings = 0 :)
I don't like betting too much on my own team, but the prices seem too good to refuse.
I was already very confident about the game, but without Campbell the gooners could be in a world of *******! IMO he is a bigger loss than Arsenal missing BOTH Henry and Viera
So I've emptied my ladbrokes account (£19.95) on United@11/10.
Bet365 are doing a free in-running bet. I've had £6.66 on United scoring 3 or more @4/1, and will get someone to do my in-running bet, as I'll be at the game.
I'll post tomorrows bets later:thumbs:
Just done the Millionaire coupon again this weekend :) You doing it again Pisces ??
Also
£8 on :
Chelsea
Liverpool
Newcastle
Reading
Wigan
Pays £61.87 (and stake money back if only 1 lets me down)
An odd £1.38 I had lying around in one account on 3 or more goals in the Newcastle Vs Bolton game.
Pays back an incredible £2.42

Ladbrookes do a coupon of 20 footy games (split into 4 sections of 5)
If you get the first 5 correct you win a minimum of £10,10 correct = minimum of £1000,15 correct = minimum of £10,000 and all 20 correct and you a guaranteed millionaire
Costs £2 a go and is on the website.

Its a coupon only available at a Ladbrokes betting shop or as it seems on their website.
It consists of a 20 team acca cut into 4 groups, if you get the first 5 right you win at least £10, first 10, if i remember right you win £100+ and so on, but if you get all 20 correct you win £1,000,000 , hence the name the Millionaire coupon ;) :D

All 20 = £1,000,000
The only match I don't like the look of on this weeks coupon is Derby v Sunderland....
Well my main bet of the weekend is a tasty treble on
Chelsea @ 1/2 Won
Newcastle @1/2
Inverness Caledonian Thistle @ Evs
£5 stakes pays £22.50

Thanks Slip (and Mr Speed). For some reason I didn't even notice Mr Speed's post.
My local team (Northwich Victoria) are in the middle of a major slump atm (lost their last 5) and are at home to Morcombe who have won 3 out of 4 of their last games and also usually do well against Vics.
Might chance a few ££ on Morcombe as they are 11/8.

I hope they do the biz otherwise I'll be on bread and water for the next couple of months!
Balls - ladbrokes site is down. I wanted to do that millionaire thing.
I wouldn't be too sure about a Chelsea win. Of course they should win, but if it's anything like when United played them, then your hearts will be in your mouths!!!!!!!!!!!!

wolves HAVE to win/draw a match eventually, and this is just the type of match Chelski have historically tripped up on ......
plus of course all the tales of discontent within the chelski camp (lampard/duff) .......
I think 1/2 is fair, but I won't be sticking much on it
If you are thinking of having a few ££ on the Superbowl this year,Sporting Odds are still listing Washington as 40/1 !! (most other sites have them at 25/1)
They are 2-0 atm and if they win tomorrow then surely the odds will come down.
I have put a speculative £5 on them :)
(Buffalo are the team to bet on for a sure thing IMHO but the odds are lower)
£5 Trebles on:
Chelsea
Liverpool
Newcastle
Forest
Reading
Swindon
£5 doubles on
Brighton
Tranmere
Mansfield
Hull
