Has anybody got any idea of the DVD release schedule of LOTR The Two Towers? I am assuming that after the success of the 2- and 4-disc versions of TFOTR they will do the same with TTT. But any idea about when? I have done a search on the Forums and DVD Times and found nothing.

I only ask because I saw a story in the paper this morning (okay, it *was* only Metro) about thousands of pirate DVDs appearing, and the story finished with the sentence, "The film is not due for release on DVD for at least a year" Shome mishtake surely??? Don't think I can wait that long ...

EDIT - just re-read that, better clarify that I am *not* implying that I will get a pirate copy :nono: :nono:

It's pretty much the same as FOTR I believe, I think the 2-disc is due slightly earlier (end of July) and then the 4-disc will be out in November.

They'll definately put out the 4 disc in November to build up hype for the final film.

Yep i also read somewhere this year it's a June release..

Other news Harry Potter is earlier also this year (April 11th) Theatrical to DVd releases are cecoming faster now.. sued to be 6 month now can be as quick as 3 months or faster?

Will buy both the 2 disc and hopefully a 5 disc Gift set of TTT

I bet November 2003 will be like last year with a load of AAA titles coming out

T3
Matrix 2
LOTR : TTT
X-Men 2
Hulk

and many others.. :)

When is the R1 version to be released. Presumably the R1 TT will be out before the R2. I believe that most pirate DVDs are copied from R1 discs.

For what it's worth I read today in the Liverpool Echo that the pirated version of this film is a direct transfere from the master copy given to the oscar people for consideration for a nomination and it's a very high standard. 10,000 copies have been raided in britain alone.

EDIT - just re-read that, better clarify right now that I am *NOT* implying that I will get a pirate copy. :nono:

I can vouch for the quality of thses discs as someone lent me one! They are screeners for the Oscars and have DTS, 5.1 and DD Stereo! The picture transfer is of a standard you would expect for the release.

I emailed New Line when I did a search on ebay and found that there were several of these pirate copies on sale. Some going for over £50!

I've had no response whatsoever from New Line...

EDIT: I've just checked ebay again (a week later) and most of the DVDs are now listed as invalid items and have been removed. So New Line didn't even say thanks for the heads up (OK, so they probably knew anyway, but they could have at least answered my email!), but they HAVE taken action about this matter.

Very few pirate DVD's will be copied from Region 1, no real point in pirating something once it's on general sale.

Pay £50 for a pirate DVD that is going to be out in 6 months?  Might as well go to the cinema to see the film every other week all the way up to June with the money.

Never understood it myself, buying a bootleg like that. I guess some folk just like to say they've got it :nono:
