Guys/Gals welcome the the all new...all singing & dancing...forum xbox gamer tag database.
Through alot of help from Dave B (well actually....Dave did it all well...Joober also contributed.....lol ) we now have a site where you can log on and amend your detail. This will then email me the HTML code with the amendments and I simply just post this over the original list.
Instruction
We all input our details in a Database, whenever anyone makes any changes to their details, it emails RST and tells him. RST can them go to a link and create the HTML for the first post in this thread.
I have entered quite a few GamerTag and Forum names, so edit the link underneath accordingly to your GamerTag. If yours does not exist it probably means you have added to this thread since I took a list. Just change the link below to ?gamertag=new then add yourself in.

There is security on the form so really anyone could change anyones details, but as it's only forum members that will be using it I don't think it should matter. I have stuck a password on the form which is thedvdforums this is just incase anyone stumbles across the form from the outside.
I also record your IP address just in case the XBOX haters on this forum start messing with the details.

hey RST i got my first kills on Sunday, took me 2 weeks of trying. Ive learnt some stuff now so have improved and have a killed a few.

Probably a bit late suggesting this, if it's any use, but would something like ICQ/MSN/etc name sbe handy. That way people could be easily reached for organising any games?
Just thinking it would be handy if others were like myself and had the PC on majority of the time, although I wouldn't keep any instant messengers on normally, I would if it served a purpose ;)
Edit - Brad mentioned something similar before, but he got pointed here and the thread closed..was just thinking a messenger service would be handier and ease any extra load on the forums.

Aye, the email addy works for MSN, started off on ICQ meself which is just a number. Using Trillian now so doesn't matter either way, just thinking of anyone using ICQ only that wouldn't be able to add people emails ;)

Some excellent games last night on MotoGP and Ghost Recon.
2 of my team members left on the my last game of GR, but it's really good with the AI ones as you can command them to goto places. I was up in the hills and commanding them to go where I thought the other team where, then picking them off when I spotted them (9 kills on that last game for me!).

I input them all ages ago but only about half (or less) responsed, so last night I deleted all the ones that haven't as it lists them first in your friends list and it's annoying scrolling through them all to find "real friends" :p

Some good games on Ghost Recon last night, the more I play it the more I like it.
I think it's pretty scary though when you are creeping around and all you can hear is the locusts then suddently a load of gun fire and either you are dead or one of your team is.

I got Ghost Recon from Play at Xmas and ended up returning it for an exchange as it kept giving me check disc errors and sound and menus were jumping alot. Checked with Play and they said they received it the 2nd of January, but since then its been permanently out of stock. Was going to cancel it and order elsewhere, but noticed Amazon also say it'll be sent within 1-2 weeks of ordering instead of within 24hrs like most stock. Is there some sort of national Ghost Recon shortage? :brickwall

Between the amount spent on Xbox in the past month and a half plus the potential buys over the next while..every penny counts :D

That game in the swamp was funny. Fourteen minutes of creeping around and then one minute of shooting. It was bloody tense though! :eek: I do think it works better with only five respawns per team. You're a lot more careful about charging in, with all guns blazing.

We walked the whole map twice and couldn't spot you, then I saw one of my team going into the house and I followed him, he went up the stairs and the next thing he was dead and I was crapping myself downstairs :(

I've played with a fdew 'ardcore gamers, AMericans of course....and they apparently are in the army...:lol: WE had no respawns, and no name tags....that was bloody tense.....

Yeah i like those games but you get loads of people moaning about the names and then when they get in the game they are the ones who end up shooting their team mates:lol:

Emailed Play this morning asking if they were expecting Ghost Recon anytime soon, got an answer back that basically said "It's in when it's in" (well that was the jist of the reply). So cancelled it and ordered from CDwow, as the local Game still dont have it :mad:
I wanna play now, and the more I read about it the more I wanna play:(

We'd walked the map looking for you lot. Finally we figured you'd eventually head back to the house, so we lay in wait for you. I saw a quaking little guy at the bottom of the stairs, but didn't realise it was you till I opened up with my Carbine. :lol: I find that map to be a LOT easier with night vision goggles on. ;)
Incidentally, if anyone is looking for some more folks to play with, then try clicking the smiley in my sig. I've had so many Xbox Live games ruined by lamers shooting their team mates, or riding backwards on Moto GP. The OldSkoolGamer (www.oldskoolgamer.com) site was set up for gamers who are tired of this. I've been playing Ghost Recon with them for the last week or so till the early hours each morning....:gag:

I've been playing some Unreal Championship lately, and I'd mostly found complete lamers, who constantly flood the voice channels with rubbish.
The other night I found myself on a CTF server, against a very well organized Clan (Clan XS, I believe). Their "professionalism" was an inspiration. Consequently, this was the most tense online experience I have ever had, even though our side was getting our asses kicked.
I went to bed that night thinking "damn, if only I could find more of that". Then I just read the front page on OldSkoolGamer...

That's what it's all about, Dan. Since hooking up with the OldSkoolGamer crowd, Xbox Live has become what I always hoped it would. Prior to that, it was beginning to frustrate me more than a little. Too many players quitting as soon as they start losing at MechAssault, too many backward riders on Moto GP, too many same team shooters on Ghost Recon. All of the players from these here forums have been as good as gold, but they're not always online when I want to play. :(
Some good games last night Mr Wonderful, one thing that was strange though is that I couldn't see my team members names until my sight homed in on them, usually you can see your own team members names all the time. I bring this point up due to me shooting one of them :( As soon as I had squeezed the trigger finger, his name popped up, but it was all to late he was lying in his own pool of blood.

I changed it. We'd played a game with pistols only on the Training Level and we'd encountered a problem, with names showing up over peoples heads, when they were "behind some one". For example if you were at one end of the upstairs level and someone else was more or less opposite you at the top of the stairs, then someone coming up the stairs would see your name, floating above the other person. There were several instances of people not firing, as they thought they were looking at team mates, only to be then shot and killed themselves. The way I've got it set up now, if you hold your gun sights over someone who's on your team, then the sights will turn blue and their name will appear. If they don't then shoot them.
Must add you into my friends list Mr Wonderful, and give Ghost Recon a go...
Couldn't find any games the other night, and ended up hosting an Unreal Deathmatch on my machine. Get about 8 people on there using 1meg NTL. Not too bad.
Nu Trunks and Sfinx were particularly good players, although I don't think they're forum members.
Another question, is the player list we've got an actual database, or is it simply text entered into a forum thread?
The reason I ask if that if we had an actual database then it would give more functionality...

I've managed to host 10 players with no lag on Ghost Recon(1Meg NTL connection), but if you do start to lag, then turn off the threat indicator and/or explosives. Turning off either or both of those will cut lag issues considerably.
BTW If any of you are signed up (or are signing up) with the OldSkoolGamer site and want to join the Moto GP league, then Rob is looking for a couple of racers to replace some that have had to drop out.

It's a JET database and I use ASP (VBScript) to generate the list.

Finally got Ghost Recon again. Still have the first mission done in campaign from the save on hard-drive. Been looking through the dossier and number one is done, but are there any essentials I should get for playing Live? Also any unlockables highly recommended if not essential?

You unlock most things by doing Quick Missions. Have a look through your dossier, to see what you want.

I want em all :) Was wondering if I needed any of the extras online, like maps I wouldn't be able to play or anything?
And erm..one other thing, played the second mission and 2 of my team are still wounded. Kinda thought they'd be sorted after each mission, but I can't find a thing about health mentioned anywhere in the book or online. Are there medi packs somewhere I'm missing or do they stay wounded till they die?
I'm thick and confused:confused: but any pointers appreciated :p

I think anything you unlock in the Quick Missions, you can use online. Completing the Campaigns on Recruit, Veteran and Elite will unlock three extra maps, you can also use online.
If you rest your wounded men for the next mission and take some other soldiers instead, then they'll heal in time for the mission after.
Ok, is there anyone who has completed the game who will save it on a memory card for me? Ill post em the mem card and return postage...anyone...?
I am on mission 9 out of 60 on the campaign but I don't get the quick missions at all. Do you just do them in order ? They seem to be the same mission as campain!
RST: got your invite last night around 1am tried to join you but kept getting server full.

You can do the Quick Missions, as and when you choose. Look through your Dossier to see what mission, unlocks each weapon.

you prolly already know - but theres a bloke selling em for a tenner inc the mem card on ebay - or he'll stick moto gp completed on the card for you as well for 14 quid

UPS tried to deliver my XBOX Live starter kit this morning - missed 'em by 5 minutes! :mad:
Anyhow, it should be delivered first thing tomorrow so that merits a day off methinks. Anyone gonna be around during the day tomorrow to help me lose my Live virginity. I have Mechassault, Ghost recon and the full version of Moto GP. Don't care what I play - equally bad/uneducated at all of them.
Tag is Delbert (I'm on the database).

When you fill in your details (instructions in forst post) it should email RST for him to run something else to update the post.
Am not getting any bounced emails so not sure what the problem is.

Well, I have to say that I have given GR a few goes, and just made a total arse of it, so I have ignored it for the last. I should really give it another go I think, stop being so lazy and learn what needs to be done!! :nuts:

After that you should get a succesful screen where it tells you it's emailing RST.

i've only managed one online meet up with a forumite so far. RST invited me last night but got the server full message.
can i just ask a quick question on Moto GP.
I understood that if I have a save on my HD of say a "completed Moto GP", then i would not need to buy the full version, as the live demo disc would pick the save up and everything would be unlocked.
well i have and it doesnt. :confused: do i have to buy the full game anyway then?

The only thing that is exangeable on MotoGP between XBOX's is the custom bike, you CAN-NOT copy across what tracks you have opened.
I only know this because I have 2 XBOX's and I have tried, I even emailed the bloke selling them on Ebay and asked him and he agreed with me.

but last night when i started a game and it brings up the bike selection screen most of those bikes were locked.
in this guys instructions he included a series of Up Down Button A etc moves to unlock everything. I did this and a weird fish game came up like old style breakout but with fish. i was very confused - played it for a but, hit start when it got boring and tried to play a game again. everythin was still locked.
so ive been done then? i ve mailed him - but i think i'll be asking for me 10 quid back and putting it towards the full version
The password to unlock everything only works on the full game, unfortently when you power off your XBOX it loses it.
At the end of the day you have got a full custom bike and a memory card for £10, not bad I reckon.
What you need to do now is rent the game and play through a full season on any setting and viola you will have all the tracks aswell.

Yeah there is a cheat to get the fish game up as well on the demo but never bothered with it.
On your list of bikes where you can go left/right you should see your custom bike, mine is the name of my XBOX. Try going left as much as you can and see if you can spot it.

i also got the ghost recon save on the same card, but am yet to work out what it is extra i have now that i didnt have before (in a live context)

If you load the save in and go to your Dossier you should have 50 out of 50 things, read down the list and it will tell you what each one is.
By the way I have 9 out of 50 open so far.

You are in the database under Geoggy, not sure why you don't appear in the list though, unless it hasn't been updated for a while.

DOne soz guys.....
from now on i will try to update the thread every 5 days.
Am currently hooked on single player Ghost Recon (19 bits opened up in the Dossier so far), as anytime I've been online there's been no-one about and I get stuck in some pretty crap games :(
Anyone be up for some DVD Forums games this Thursday evening?
If anyone's capable of hosting it'd be good, as I'm on 128k upload:gag:

EDIT: I have installed this now, you need XP and SP1. It's basically Messenger but you have rooms and can share music etc... Also you are limited to 9 people per room.

I have 256k upload and I've hosted ten people with explosions ON. It does largely depend on how good NTL is being though.

For all you guys that were getting frustrated with the lobby and seemingly lack of online games available in LIVE.:brickwall
A patch has now been released for GR that apparently solves the poor availability of games showing in the lobby and also cuts down on lag. Just go to LIVE in GR and it will ask you to update.
So, maybe time for a few of you to dust of your copies of GR.:clap:
Also reported elsewhere that a new content disk is on its way to the shops soon with new maps, new fighting styles & new content for GR.

I know I'm harping on a theme, but if you check the Events Forums over at OldSkoolGamer (www.oldskoolgamer.com) you'll see a lot of decent people playing GR on Live. They tend to set up private rooms though, so they can keep out the idiots.
Yup, registered there not long ago after you mentioned it, only problem being my play times are sporadic at best and anytime I intend on being around for an organised game it goes wrong(even tried to organise a game or 2 last Thurs, then had to go out after an half an hour online myself :brickwall).

I've been doing a lot of work with DataGrids in Csharp ( :dork: ) at work lately, and I reckon with a little work I can get a sortable, searchable list of forums players working...

This is a very early idea that I knocked up over lunch. Its a c# datagrid, that is pulling the data out of an xml file (which I created by doing a cut and paste from the list on page 1 of this thread). You can sort by clicking on the headers. There is no searching or adding people or anything like that yet. Hopefully you can see the idea though.

It may be that this is not being updated at the moment... The second post that contains the list of Gamers/Gamertags appears to have last been updated on the 12th April.
It could simply be that rst is busy or away so I wouldn't worry if you can't get your Gamertag into the list at the moment. I'm still waiting on that but if you've posted the Gamertag into the thread as well (as you did "internetuser") then at least those of us interested in this thread will see it and then hopefully if we see you online we'll remember and thus be duly welcoming in the traditional DVD Forums manner.

Yup, RtCW is a fantastic game once you've learnt the maps. It's also nice to play some UK players once in a while as well. :clap:

I want to add myself to the tag database, but when I try going to the "http://www.caniplay.co.uk/live/index.asp?gamertag=new" area, it comes up with some member details that have already been entered in.
I'm not 100% sure what to do and since I don't want to go editing other users details, I thought I dhould ask, even if the answer is kind of obvious.

Just overwrite it but remember to change the GamerTAG.
People are forgetting to change the GamerTAG from "NEW" to their own, so it just creates one called new.

MotoGP is only Live with the demo. The full version doesn't go online at all. You only need the full version if you want to open all the tracks and get a custom bike.
