Here's something that's been bugging me for a while. I'm using a Sony HT-SL7A Home Theater System connected to my Sony DVP-S525D DVD Player using the Digital Coaxial Cable that came with the amp.

It sounds fine, but on the front display of the Amp there is a little blue light which lights up when it's Multi Channel Decoding. This never lights up and the display doesn't show the rear speakers as being active (although sound is coming from them). The multi-channel light on the DVD player lights up though.

I've just bought a Digital Optical Cable so I can connect that to my PS2 via the AUX Optical in connection. When I play GTA:Vice City in DTS it all lights up (the DTS symbol appears on the display, the rear speakers show as active).

Does that mean my Coaxial cable from the DVD isn't working properly? There is no Optical In for the DVD player on the amp, only the Coaxial In so should I connect the DVD player from the Optical Out to the AUX Optical In using the Optical cable?

Please help i'm very

Check the settings on your dvd player.
See that audio out is set to bit/bitstream, not PCM, DTS is set to ON (sometimes u have to tell the player what to do)

Co-axial shold be fine if u already hearing stuff, just probably in Pro-logic

Happy new yr - hope this helps

Yep, that's sorted it thanks Delh. Didn't think to look in the set-up on the DVD player!!

Swapped it to DTS - On and Dolby Digital - On and it sounds superb  Only had the amp 4 months, it wasn't until I noticed the PS2 came up with DTS on the display that I thought to sort it out :oh-hum:

Happy New Year to you and yours as well m8
