This has just been on. I know this is being cancelled soon and I am starting to see why. This was lacking in originality a lot this episode. No sign of the "Big Bad" (Mia Sara) again in this episode and the Lady Shiva being Helena's best friend from high school was very obvious and the kind of storyline used before!

Watched this on CNX last night.

Have to agree with you, suffers whenever Harley/ Mia Sara is not in the episode.

(although Hot Babes in skin tight black leather beating each other up,as in tonights story, is always a good thing :norty: :D )

I enjoyed this episode, despite the 'oh my god its obviously your best friend you dumb yet incredibly hot cow' ness off it.

I must say i really love this series, wish it hadnt been cancelled - its like my guilty pleasure.

:)

Me too, and not just for the reasons stated in my first post :D

Maybe being a comic :dork: and spotting the references in the background contributes to my enjoyment of what is essentially a naff series.

(Ie , in this episode, there were two street signs at a junction, next to each other. "ONeill" and "Adams". Denny ONeil and Neal Adams are a superb writer/artist team who did a classic run of Batman stories together, in the 70's. They restablished his original "dark" character after the Adam West tv series in the 60's had turned him into a joke for years afterwards. They completely revitalised the character, and their work was big influence on Frank Miller and Tim Burton and virtually everybody who's worked on the character after them. (not to mention producing some great comics at the time.) It was nice little touch.)

bananamana, "guilty pleasure" sums it up really well. I know it could be a lot better, and i know it's very naff in places, but I still enjoy it.

As friend of mine says, "it's rubbish, but entertaining rubbish that's fun to watch". :)

*stands up* My name is kat23 and I too like Birds Of Prey *sits down quickly*

It is crap! It's stupid and very predictable. The story lines (so far) seem to have not moved anywhere and even borrowed from each other.

But it's fun! Entertaining rubbish is just about right.

I noticed the street names as well:dork:

Though I didn't think this weeks was as much fun as some previous due to it being very obvious straight from the start who the villain was. Could they have been any more subtle?

Maybe we should start a group, "Birds Of Prey TV Fans Anonymous"

Talking of ONeil and Adams:

kat23, as you're obviously a comic fan with good taste , did you buy the Planetary/Batman special that came out this week?

Apart from the lovely John Cassady artwork, it's a (surprisingly) touching loveletter from Warren"Mr Cynical" Ellis to Bats, and pays homage to ONeil and Adams , as well as Bob Kane, Frank Miller, and even a very funny tip of the hat to Adam West's tv version .

Lovely stuff, with a beautiful poignant ending. Well worth picking up if you haven't done so already

Haven't got that. Though haven't actually bought many comics in about 3 years or so  Tend to pick things up in books instead from time to time. Been thinking of getting some more soon so may look at that one :)

Definitely worth getting. It's a bit pricey compared to a normal monthly comic, as its one-off a prestige format special, but definitely worth a look.

I'm another one guilty of enjoying Birds of Prey.

It's a shame that it's been cancelled, but also it's a shame that it isn't anywhere near as good as it could of been. I don't read comics so I don't know if this is based on one or not. I realise they were probably going for the Smallville audience having the younger characters, but I think it would have worked better with Batgirl as a character and not Oracle.

From what I remember Batgirl was quite young anyway so they could have used her instead of Huntress. Only knowing the Batman universe from the films and WB cartoon I only know of Batgirl and Harley Quinn and neither of these characters appear very often at all. If they were trying to get Batman fans to watch as well it needed more of a connection than these odd appearances.
