If I were you I'd write to them again giving them the special delivery ref no. and telling them that your faulty disc was sent to them over a month ago and that you are not happy with the situation.

Got mine today
With a signed letter from Steven - nice!

They might have slower turnaround due to the amount of returns they are getting.

Same here.:)

But I only posted mine 2 weeks ago, so I'm quite happy with the turn around.

Yee Haa!, sorry 'bout that.

I received my DVD back this morning (well my girlfriend got it).
I rang the Royal Mail (it was delivered and signed for on April 30th) and they just said write to them (which is not very helpful if one hasn't heard a peep from who you sent it to in a month).

Anyway its here, I'm happy, so thats what counts. (Rachael thinks it was a winning lottery ticket, the way I was going on).

If anyone else hasn't had anything from WB in a month write to them. I have the letterhead at home and Rachael (my much better half) says its got a telephone number on it so I'll post it here if thats OK.

The only physical difference (I have spotted) seems to be the code stamped on the reverse of the disc:

Disc 2: 22855D5&2/1 V01 <--original pressing

Disc 2: 22855D5&2/1.2 V02 <--reauthored

Got mine today from amazon.de after just 1 week!! (I live in Athens, Greece).

Thanks to 8-] and all the rest who contacted WB UK, Germany, Amazon etc.

This is a fine example of consumers' power!!!

Hi. Sorry to bring back this gargantuan thread.

I've tried to read as much as I can, but you have to admit it's very repetitive, so I've skipped over some of it. I have a question, and I hope someone can answer it without saying, "Read teh thread ffs!!!111"

My question:

If I go and buy B5 season 1 (region 2) from any online or high-street retailer, will it have the correct re-authored version of that faulty episode? Or do the box-sets STILL have the incorrect version, and you still have to go through all the crap of complaining and getting the correct disc through the post?

HI - I got a copy from the HMV sale yesterday, and I thikn it is the re-authored version, based on this post :

>>The only physical difference (I have spotted) seems to be the >>code stamped on the reverse of the disc:

>>Disc 2: 22855D5&2/1 V01 <--original pressing

>>Disc 2: 22855D5&2/1.2 V02 <--reauthored

My disc 2 has the V02 number on it (though you have to squint a bit to see it...).

I haven't actually watched it yet, I assumed the problem is very noticeable (and I think it is in episode 8).

The overall picture quality looked very fuzzy to me on a quick glance at the first disc in the set. Haven't read through all of this thread to see if that is a common problem tho.

As mikef said, if you buy a new one it should be the re-pressed disc 2.

Use this to check - slightly easier to read mike :) :

Cheers 8-], I've not looked how to include previous messages in a current one so did it long hand....

I'll have a look at the episode tonight to check, I guess it is obvious when the problem is present?

Pretty much, even if you don't notice people becoming randomly fat, that the title sequence looks more like 2.35:1 then 1.85:1 should be obvious enough, especially on a widescreen tv.

Code?? I just watched the episode, and it was all looking nice and proportioned. So must be the right one.

I returned my disc at the end of January 2004 and haven't heard anything since! Anyone else had a similar experience??

Edit: I just looked through some of the earlier posts and have seen that some people have had the same experience - I'll write them a follow up letter and see what happens.

So are Warner still replacing these? I bought Season 1 R2 that had been released this year (the box carries the redesigned '12' BBFC logo and the package design is copyrighted '2004'), but the messed up version of SFOS is still in there! How bloody lazy is that? I hope they're still replacing these discs.

I've got a packaging query as well: did the originally released versions have the funky thinpak cases or one of those stupid fold-outs?

Had a same problem with my new season 1 set bought from Germany (thinpaks packaging also). The old & faulty master being used for "And The Sky Full of Stars"... nice one Warner! I sent my disc #2 to Warner's Germany office.

I recieved the Season 1 Boxset for christmas from my sister and it has the faulty Disc 2 so I was wondering whether anyone knew if the address at the start of this topic is still valid so I can get a replacement?

I noted in the HMV sale that they have a fresh batch of Seasons 1 to 3 now issued in the thin DVD case style as Season 4 which begs the question, are these the fixed disks as well as I may consider a fresh Season 1 set, I never did get around to replacing the error disk in my original set.

My Season 1 Boxset is in the thin style DVD cases but I have checked the underside of the disc and it says it is 1.2 VOL1 which isnt a code mentioned on here so I would avoid the re-issued sets as they still have the faulty disc.

I guess I'm too late to get my disc changed. They're (play.com) STILL selling box sets with the faulty disc.

Don't see why. If they haven't recalled all the sets, they should still replace the disc.

I haven't tried but will soon. I got the faulty Season 1 disc in my boxset but corrected season 5 :cuckoo:

Yay! I'm in Bristol too. The thing that worries me is sending the disc back on faith. It's been a couple of years since they made the replacement discs available & I don't want to post off a (watchable) disc, never to see it again.

There's a problem with season five??? This is news to me, I only own the first four box sets. What's up with it?
