The club has repeatedly said the latter.
If that shirt is the away top then firstly it looks exactly like the current one and secondly it's RED!!! After the outcry over a red logo you can imagine what people will say. Does look quite a nice shade although a bit to pinkish.
So Rag, does that mean it's genuine? What about Home shirt, did you see that?
The red shirt is someone joking. The picture that t@xman posted originally is real. It's the picture that was scanned from a negative that was obtained from the photographer at the photoshoot and sent on to us.
There will be a white home kit, a dark blue away kit and a yellow third choice kit as showed by the picture earlier.
The club are investigating how the person who sent us the image came to have it and they're obviously pretty mad that it leaked out.

Yes, I was only kidding about the pink shirt ;)
Not funny :nono: (phew)
I posted earlier but it didn't come up. Basically the Robinson thing was more or less done in january for now and there really was no doubt he'd be joining us post-season

Manager leaving + positions vacant = Spurs job
I don't think it'll be him, I really hope not. Supposedly we've sorted out several people already so he wasn't in the frame
Why's it so quiet in here? We've signed Paul Robinson ( Keller) and beat Wolves at Molineux 2-0. Despite a terrible season in some regards, we only finished 5 points behind the points we got last season (and the two before).
I was reading in the Sun that Robinson took a £5k/week paycut to join us. It was only when I read the article that I noticed he was wearing a spurs shirt in the HUGE photo next to it even though it was the third time I'd seen it

NOTW was reporting that we have signed another GK, from eastern europe, or something. Oh and that Bakke has turned us down.
Really cant see why any spurs fan sees this season as anything to mention ever again, and tbh i really cant see anything changing next season, unless we unveil a new supermanager soon.
Well we'll be getting a new manager. I'm sure he'll have a positive impact but hopefully it'll be someone who'll take us further than we have since the late 80's.
It sooo badly hinges on who the hell we appoint over the Summer. A top draw name and we'll be frothing at the mouth, esp. if he attracts a few decent players and sorts out the defence.
Great to see Robinson arrive - nice stuff. Let's hope he can help us become a bit more solid at the back. Doesn't strike me as the most vocal of keepers though I must say.
Finished 14th in the end - it could've been worse. Couple of decent wins to end the season. Yes, a season to be forgotten about completely....
Still, onwards and upwards - here's to an exciting 2004-5!
Tigana has entered the scene, Trap has allegedly left due to a sick wife.
Trap has been careful not to upset the italians so the wife thing could just be a way of placating them for now.

According to Sky Sports News, PSV have just confirmed that Arnesen has joined Spurs as Technical Director. He's the man who has been credited with bringing Ronaldo to PSV!
I'm sure he's the same player that played for Anderlecht in the UEFA cup final against us and also played for Denmark when they won the Eurochampionships.
Ragnarak
18-05-2004, 20:52
He is :)
And he's one of the best people at his job in the world. He uncovered the likes of RVN, Hofland, Robben, etc.
So is that the end of Mr David Pleat?
Well it's the end of him as Director of Football / Caretake Manager and so on, as he has a position on the board sacking him might not be as 'simple' as any other employee though - they could just offer him Chief Scout or some other newly created role.
I'm quite excited by the Arnesen appointment though, a very positive step I think. The 3rd of the week in fact!! The other two being the signing of Robinson and a complete overhaul of our Medical and Physio structure - no way can the number of injuries we suffer be normal.
The Arnesen appointment was something of a surprise, he certainly hadn't been linked to us at all in the previous 8 months and it wouldn't surprise me if Daniel Levy had another surprise appointment in store for us - possibly not one of the previous 85 managers linked to us so far! I think him coming to us rules out a british manager anyway.
Btw Otmar Hitzfeld was sacked by Bayern today, oh and Van Bommell is currently at PSV too.;)

The club can confirm that it is in advanced discussions with Frank Arnesen in respect of the position of sporting director.
Discussions are also being held with David Pleat.
A statement will be made to the Stock Exchange in the morning.
A full statement will be available shortly thereafter.
Sounds like Pleat might be kept on in a consultant role.. either that, or they're trying to arrange a severence package for him! ;)
Funniest thing listening to talksport tonight as they thought he was coming in as manager and was trashing him as "another Christian Gross". It took a yid to ring in and explain that he was actually Director of Football and had nothing to do with coaching.
.
.
.
.
.....then they tried making out that was a negative move and came out with "..and what's he ever done?" - again another yid emailed in to mention RVN, Van Bommel, Ronaldo et al - to which they stated "well, if he were that good then why'd he be going to Spurs".
.
.
.
.....god I hate Houghton and co. What bleeding qualifies them to talk soccer when they know absolutely nothing outside of bleeding Highbury! Well, at least they made completes twits of themselves tonight and really exposed just how little they know!

God, that's professional, not to mention mature  I suppose we should gradually try to do worse and worse each season :oh-hum:
This guy might be good, apparently he was hired because pleat was rubbish in European transfers although I thought we'd do away with a DOF position. It could well be a british manager, since presumably a foreign one wouldn't need the assistance of our new guy.

Bit of a surprise that he's in the squad though - and they only have three strikers going, including him!
Mind you, with that midfield.....
I was pretty surprised since he didn't play in that friendly against england. With only 2 other strikers he's got a great chance of playing, maybe they'll play all three, something which Postiga will be used to

Plenty points towards them having reached a gentlemans agreement with Trappatoni earlier in the season - Inside Sources, the sheer amount of money that has been staked on it (more than that put on O'Neil etc etc together and in half the time.... according to BetFair anyhoo), his appearances at White Hart Lane earlier in the year, plus the recent interview Trap gave to the Evening Standard.
Nothing could have ever been set in stone though (ie contracts signed), regardless of who the target was, as Spurs would have been legally bound to announce this to the Stock Exchange. In Pleats recent exit interview with the BBC he said that 'the appointment of the manager took a set back earlier in the year and they hoped to put this right again'.
For me Trap said he wanted to come, his wife convinced him to think otherwise (I don't know about the validity of her illness, he didn't mention this as a reason in his interview, but then if it was something serious it's not something you're going to just tell anybody in the media about). Now he has openly said that he 'may' still like to be considered should the position still be available in 6 weeks time. Whether or not Spurs can afford to take the risk and wait until his Euro 2004 campaign ends though, I'm not so sure.
AFAIK it's always been a post-2004 thing for him, he really doesn't want to announce anything before the end of the tornement, lest it wrecks their chances.
I don't doubt that he was a strong candidate but they've mentioned they had several people in mind

If you have a lot of money, you have to spend it wisely, but if not, you have to work more on tactics and formation, it doesn't really matter.
I would just like to say to the team I am coming to, to the board and the fans, that I come with all my heart.. and will do my best to be a success there.
Of course, we all know that the manager will not be buying players, that will be down to the Director of football, but I think he will be going to Chelsea.

I think I read that he countered reports he was 'sacked' - he said it was just a short term arrangement and it was just some decent managerial/coaching experience that was always gonna come to an end about now anyway.
Whether that's true or not is another matter - I see no reason to disbelieve him though.

Was he the 63rd or 64th manager to be linked with us, way back at the end of April? There must have been another 30 or so since then too. I'm just so tired of it all now.:(
Offer Martin O'Neill a take it or leave it offer and failing that bring in Claudio.
Do we really want the manager who's team failed to score ANY goals in the last world cup?
No.... but then it's a good thing he wasn't actually the coach in 2002.;)
He wasn't? I thought I'd read he was. How come he's ready to move so soon then? I remember reading something about him that wasn't too impressive though
Well he lead Lyon to back to back French League Championships before taking over from Lemerre in 2002. However like a lot of players/coaches that we are linked with, this I feel is another case of an agent using us to get a better deal elsewhere.
Last month Santini was reported to have said that should Tottenham wish to contact him regarding the vacant managers job, then it would be something that interested him. His contract is up after Euro 2004 and he was most likely trying to get the French FA to hurry up and offer him a new one.

I've read some reports of these meetings between Levy, Arnesen and Ranieri and I'm not sure what to believe anymore....
I suppose its natural to expect CR to go back to Valencia, but then if he wants to stay in London, there's an option. Until he's signed up for Valencia, I'm taking nothing for granted!

If the Evening Standard are to believed (and they're usually very reliable when it comes to stories regarding their home clubs) it was Ranieri (his agent or whoever) that approached Tottenham for talks regarding the position. Either way we're still managerless, 9 months on.

Kenyon has said that Claudio's contract will be paid in full, but did hint at other details within his contract that reduce this sum. I refrained from replying to your first post and probably should have done the same with this one but oh well.
If you have a vacancy you interview all the best possible candidates that can fill that role. Neither were offered the job, hence neither turned it down. Though admittedly a nice cushy job at Old Trafford or a stint at the Spanish and UEFA Cup Champions is always going to be very appealing.

I'd say our staff at the back are fine, but they need some decent coaching and organisation.
Shame Ziege's gone, but as it stands, we have a back five of
Robinson
Carr
Tarrico
King
Gardner
which ain't too bad on paper if you ask me - they're certainly capable, but just need some organisation IMO.
Course, we'd need some decent backup/additions - fine.
Our midfield is basically toothless and, IMO, the first area that needs 'doing'.

The thing is 99.9% of the time Spurs have not even contemplated signing the players linked to us by the media, let alone release stories. A perfect example of how Levy prefers to go about his business would be in the transfer of Postiga and Defoe (not one mention of them joining us until they actually did), likewise the impressive coup of Arnesen and Santini.:)

Honestly, after watching u lot last season, your defence needs a complete turnaround.
Just look at the Man City and Leicester games for example?
Defenders and a holding MD (Who can pass) player would be your first priority.

There are many examples of bad defending, the first arsenal goal was pretty bad defensively. Also we conceded a few against Charlton. You can play well and conceed a number of goals or conceed one goal that was through bad defending.
I'd get rid of Gardner, Richards and Tarrico. Maybe keep Gardner to see if he can improve.
In midfield we've got Davis, Redknapp, Ricketts. I think we should buy Koncheski or a decent midfielder

We finished in the top 10 the season before this one. What I'd like us to do is break the 50 point barrier. What we need is consistancy because we were on course for a UEFA spot in january but we stumbled in febuary and fell over in march. If we played at our best the whole time we'd be amazing.
That's the most frustrating thing for me, the fact that I know we can play well and get results but often don't do that.
What's this "Buy British" policy? I didn't realise we had one.
Also, wasn't George Graham a decent manager?
According to the mirror, Santini might be interested in Silvan Wiltord and would sell Kanoute
Also, does anyone think Santini looks like Maurice Bénichou, the actor from Amilie?

NO please no.:brickwall
No one mentioned it but Postiga scored a goal in Portugal's 4-1 win over Lithuania. Could be good for his prospects.
Also is his name helder (which I thought) or helgar. The latter was given as his name in the Mirror the other day but today's guardian says helder.
Santini can't stand Kanoute which is a shame but I'm glad we've landed him as manager. Wiltord would be a class signing, he's not buried amongst the roots of the Arse's folklore so it wouldn't be a travesty in that respect, he is also preferred to Pires in the French squad. Davids is a possibility, i'd say it was highly unlikely but I don't think he has anything to prove on the continent (Barca being a possible destination) whereas English prem football is attractive/lucrative.
How I'd laugh if we got Ronaldo though.
New kit officially launched now...
http://www.spurs.co.uk/article.asp?article=207355
Looks ok, but one season only remember.
I can't tell the difference :help:
Ha!
No blue trim on the neck/sleeves. Plus a different Thomson logo...

Why only one season? I understand that Arsenal are having there new shirt for only one season so they can have a special one for their final season at Highbury, but why Spurs?
There's summat on the official site about a 'rebranding' programme, resulting in a new kit for one season only.
They're going for the 'we're being honest and up front' angle, which is good, but without really going into detail.
Dunno if it means a new sponsor, kit brand, badge design (god no!) or what....
I dunno how long we're meant to have Kappa or Thomson for, but I thought it was longer than this.
Wiltord and Lizarazu interested in joining up with Santini (<a href="http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/040610/4/4bk1.html" target="new">allegedly</a>)

Jol announced as Assistant Manager (i think thats the job) i'm sure i heard on SSN
yep, confirmed on spurs site (well glory-glory but they said they'd pinched it from spurs, so i'll believe!)
Yep, Jol is definatly the assistant manager. Seems to be quite highly thought of too. Seems like a good move.
Kanoute straight up for sale.....no surprise there then seeing as Santini sold him at Lyon because he was a lazy git and a distraction in the dressing room.
Where did you get that from T@xman? I certainly hope not because I believe he's an excellent striker

I believe it's now being mentioned on Sky Sports. It was always likely once Santini took over. Plus he can sell Kanoute, add some money to the coffers and then bring in Wiltord on a free (though i feel he'll be utilised more as a winger if he does join).

Im quite happy for Kanoute to be sold,he didn't give a thought for spurs when we was struggling last season and went to play for Mali.If we had gone down he would of asked for a transfer anyway.
Do you think any of the england team would have been any different? We weren't struggling either, he left when during our best run of the season

A run in which we looked likely to hit a European place???

Now linked with <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/euro_2004/denmark/3807523.stm" target="new">Dennis Rommedahl</a> by Skysports, but reading that he just says he wants to play in the premiership
Arnesen brought him to PSV IIRC.
He'd be a fantastic signing

are you talking about that spurs fan singing outside Highbury on the glory glory forums??
Here's a question for you
Without looking it up can anyone tell me the last time we finished 3rd in the league?
In the 86/87 season I'm pretty sure we finished 3rd, Runners up in the FA Cup, Semi-Finalists in the League Cup and Clive Allen got something like 47 goals - under David Pleat too!:o However I'm sure Terry Venables matched this league position in the 89/90 season. Well any team that had Gazza and Lineker in the same side (Part of Englands all-time XI ;) ) had to be up there at some point.
Spot on Mr M0by! A friend said we'd finished 3rd in the premiership and I swore blind we hadn't then he said maybe it was 1990 and I said I doubt it. So I was pleasantly shocked when I looked it up. We also did it in 84/85 and 86/87. 7th is the highest we got since then
Incidentally keep your eyes open in the portugeese match, there's a tottenham flag behind the goal

Yep, we are the only team in the history of the Premiership to have never finished in either the Top 6 or the Bottom 6.:|
Classic midtable mediocrity!
Well (hopefully) not for much longer...
(oh and yep spotted the flag!)

do The Sun know something we don't?
France are the only nation refusing to pay for a £500-a-day translator, leaving future Chelsea boss Jacques Santini struglling with questions from the foreign media
:p :p
Good ol' Sun journalism eh?
Never one to get their facts wrong!

Camaj, I didn't know you were a fellow Spurs fan!!!
I'm sad. I remember the words to Ossie's Dream.

You're probably the only one. I didn't know you were a spurs fan either (actually I may have but then forgot). You clearly don't read this thread enough
I don't know the words to Ossie's dream really other than "In the cup for tot-ting-ham"
future Chelsea boss Jacques Santini
:oh-hum: Wishful thinking by an anti-spurs writer?
I've still got my Ossie's Dream on 7" single somewhere!

BBC reckon he's going to Charlton. Another 'nearly' signing for Spurs? ;)
