Sony S300 DVD connection

I am having a right pig of a time trying to get an interference free pic from my S300 dvd player. Firstly, i tried svideo but the tv (sony kv28fq75) kept displaying black and white so i used the only other output, composite. Now i get full colour on r1 and 2 but on the sony screen and any still pics I get a dark line passing across the screen which is really offputting. Anyone any ideas what the problem may be?

You did Turned RGB on, in the set up did'nt you?

cant find any option to turn rgb on. on my old player which i connected via scart, i had no probs like this but did using composite with games consoles.....could be the tele at fault. Anyone?

You TV clearly doesn't really support the NTSC colour system, which isn't a problen when using an RGB signal, but anything else will be black and white. If the S-Video output isn't RGB compatible then you're up the creak without a palde as far as I can see :confused:
