Tenko *and* (supposedly) The Hunger in the same year - my life is complete :D

Seriously though, it's about time the BBC got their fingers out and released some classic drama.

What about Tenko Reunion?

Excellent news though, especially as the BBC only bothered releasing the first series on VHS. Shall start saving my dole money now :D

I think I'd believe the producers of the disc over a retailer any day. I'd prefer the next boxset in August, but all I want are all three series plus the reunion special (maybe in the last boxset?).

Most e-tailers (Amazon, Blackstar, Play, dvd.co.uk, MVC) are all showing an 11th August release date.

Received this email from Acorn:

We are hoping to release the above title(series 2) in August, however, due to circumstances out of our control we may have to postpone the release date. If we need to do this, hopefully we will release it in September but this is not certain. We do not have release dates for series three or 'Tenko Reunion' at present.

I am sorry I cannot confirm the release date of series two. If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

Splash DVD are the cheapest supplier of Season 2 I can find at present, at a price of £34.99 :) Hopefully the release date won't slip too much.

Wonder what the supposed circumstances are all about?

God knows. I think series 1 is the worst in terms of language, nudity and violence so it can't be anything like that. Hopefully it means no cuts will be made, but knowing how useless the BBC are then I'm not holding my breath on that.

Fingers crossed the problems are with gathering some extras this time!

That is good news. Let's hope S3 & Reunion won't be too long down the road, maybe in time for Christmas?

I hope so. Glad to see the series being released so quickly! To be honest, I tend to think of the first two series of Tenko as being the "core" of the programme though. The show was actually axed after series two, until Michael Grade commissioned more over a year since series two finished. I personally don't think series 3 or the Reunion are up to the standard of series one & two. It's still good stuff though, and much better than most TV shown today.

Yes. :)

And, though the first series is excellent, series two is even better!

Rather than do a separate release, why can't the 'Tenko Reunion' be included in the Series 3 package? Apart from the obvious financial reasons, i.e. thinking they can make some money from a single disc release, I can't think of a sensible reason for them not to bundle with Series 3.

Apparently, a complete series box set came out earlier this month.

I've been watching some episodes again and it's top-notch character-led drama. Marion, Rose, Joss, Blanche, Beatrice in particular are wonderful, and Verna Johnson is one of the greatest TV bitches ever.
